bought of you twenty-six or twentyseven
years ago. during which time it
has had constant service, considered by
some an extraordinary amount of hard
usage. This instrument has served two
generations in our immediate family in
a most satisfactory way and we have
no idea of parting with it for any
other piano."

Just taree yars ago tiie Soutuwestem
Presby teriau sanatoiiuw was lntorpor- fj
ated and established at Albuquerque
by the Syuod of New Mexico, it was |
founded largely on faith, 'lliere was no I
money witu widen to begin tne work,
but tbe Synod lelt that tueie was a
great need of an institution wnose purpose
was to belp take care of tbe sick
strangers wbo come from aiibost every
state in tbe Lnion, seeking bealtb in
tne arid Southwest.
Lake all new institutions, tbe Sanatorium
has bad quite a struggle, but it
bus made good progress and is already
caring for a laige number of people?
some of tbem free, and all for a moderate
rate. Nearly $40,000 are already invested
in tbe plant and there is now a
capacity for sixty patients. The lnsti
tuiiou administers the luuds waich are
committed to it, provides the very best
accommodations and food obtainable,
but making everything at about actual
cost. It also cares for a number of
patients by soliciting help from individuals
who agree to take care of a
patient for a period of time. Many
friends in the East have taken care
of a patient in this way for a few
months, and some of them for an entire
year. As a general thing .the patient
remains about five or six months.
If he gets along well, oftentimes after
this period of rest and recuperation he
is able to take light work.
It is the plan of the trustees to seek
for an endowment as soon as possible.
An endowment of $200,000 would insure
a rate of $5.00 per week for a hundred
patients, and the institution would be great
credit to the Church and a boon
to many health seekers who come here
with limited means and who are abso.
lu'tely unable to pay the prices required
at private institutions.
The Presbyterian Sanatorium is now
making a rate for those able to pay of
$45.00 per month, which is juBt one-half
the rate charged by the private institutions
for the same service.
Of the forty people now in the Sanatorium,
twenty dinerent States are represented.

Canada, a pastor from Illinois, and a
professor from Tennessee. Every see.
tion of our country snould be interested
in this cause. Our Foreign Board rec I
ognizes the great help of hospital work c
in ttie foreign held. Why should we no;
recognize this need also at home?
Thirty-three of Christ's miracles were
miracles of healing, and the New Testament
is filled with instances of physical
healing. Should we not emphasize what
the Gospel emphasizes?
It has been reported that the church
which has made the greatest progress
recently is the Seventh Day Adventist
Church. If this is true, may it not be
because of the emphasis which they are
putting on their healing work?
Some one has said that "the ministry
of healing la Christianity's most J
effective demonstration. If this is
true, it certainly is a ministry which '
the church cannot afford to neglect. If ^
there is one direction before another c
where this demonstration is needed, it '
is in behalf of those afflicted with tuberculosls.
It is estimated that In the
United States alone two hundred thous.
and people die of this disease every
year. While hltberto it was regarded
as g hopoless disease, it is not now so
