A NOTED DOCTOH SAYS,
Everyone should have some little antiseptic
powder in the shoes. Confining
the feet in shoes, is in itself unnatural
and causes a moist or smarting condition.
People of refinement now use
daily, Allen's Foot-Ease, the antiseptic
powder to be shaken into the shoes,
and would as soon go without a dentifrice
as without the use of Allen's FootEase.

L*st week 1 visited our church's Mission
School for Girls at Neatamoros,
Mexico, conducted by Miss Alice McLellan.
1 enjoyed thiB efficient missionary
<tnd her mother and the pastor,
Hev. W. A. Ross, much. 1 also met the
girls and they sang for me. Among
uiuerts iney Bang in the rich-toned
Spanish tongue, the hymn, "We Would
See Jesus." Think of it! See those
Mexican faces. See the appeal come
into your heart, as it came into mine;
on the hymn and its melody.
"We would see Jesus, other lights are
paling,
Which for long years we have rejoiced
to see;
We would see Jesus, that is all we're
needing."
As I caught in this hymn the call of
that native school from Its millions of
hearts, it deepened my purpose to give
them my prayers and help and it "lit
my eyes with misty light."
If you'll shut out the noise and din
of business and pleasure for a quiet moment
and turn your earB towards the
natives groping, you'll hear the plain
tive cry: "We would see Jesus," and
amidst those darkened faces there
stands One with out-stretched, pierced
hands. Shall they see Him? Oh! Shall
they see Him?
While the cup of blessing may and
often does run over, I doubt if the cup
of suffering is ever more than filled to
the brim.?George Macdonald.

GETTING A VOCABULARY.
Tbe vocabularies of many gins badly
need expanding. Any girl wno will
notice bow continually bar companions
a&y tnat a tbing la "lovely" or "awful"
or "too sweet for anytning" will realize
bow few and vague are, for example,
ber terms of approval.
Conversation witb intellectual people,
familiarity witb good autnors and prog
ress in schooling should in time give
you a vocabulary. But there is an easy
and attractive way besides to. add to
your stock of words. Buy a dictionary
of synonyms. For iifty cents you can
buy a volume large enough to keep you
at work a' year, yet small enough to
stay on your dressing-table for ready
reference.
Select a familiar word of daily use.
Memorize its synonyms and note how
each shades oft into a new meaning
which distinguishes it from' all the others.
Turn to the word "lovely." Its synonyms
are "amiable," "pleasing,"
"charming," "delightful," "enchanting,"
"winning," "graceful," "admirable" and
"adorable." Study the particular meaning
conveyed by each. When you know
them all you will not use at every infifor.f

appropriate "lovely." Ten minutes
dally, while you are dressing, will give
you a surprising number of such word
groups.
Do not be ostentatious. Let your improvement
be known only by its fruits.
Very soon you will feel and avoid the
monotonous phrasing or ordinary talk,

The writer knows a girl of sixteen
vho comes in from tennis, or pauses in
her household taskB, to say to her mother,
"What word would you use here?"
Then for a moment they talk. They discuss
the synonyms, and if they can,
quote from good authors to mark their
points; and mother and daughter are
alike richer for this search of the right
word.
The girl is not a prig; Bhe is a leader
in all her school games. She can banter
and make merry and eat fudge with
her most heedless mates; but during the
year that she has owned her dictionary
