Tuesday night. The charge was delivered
hy Rev. R. F. Campbell, D. D., of
Asheville, 'N. C., and the subject of Professor
Dingle's inaugural address was
"The Seminary and the Sunday School."
The address to the graduating class on
^ ednesday, the final day. was delivered
by the venerable Dr. H. G. Hill, who
has been for forty years a member of
the B*ard of Directors.
Twenty-one men go out from the Seminary
this year, and it is interesting
and gratifying to note how large a proportion
of them have, ih the multitude
of calls coming to all our prospective
young ministers, chosen mission work
at home or abroad. Seven of the twenty-one
referred to expect to labor in
the Foreign field. Two will go out this
summer to Africa and two to Korea.
The other three, who expect to work
in China, will go later. Messrs. R. D.
Bedinger and C. L. Crane, of last year's
class, have just arnVed in Africa to
reinforce our Congo Mission; and Rev.
P. B. Hill, of the class of 1906, has been
released frem his pastorate in Roanoke
and expects to go shortly to Korea.
Two members of the present graduating
class expect to work in Texas, one in
Oklahoma, one in Mississippi, one in
Ketnucky, five in North Carolina, one
in West Virginia, and two in Virginia.
This does not seem to Indicate that the
fields of work nearest the Seminary
get the lion's share in the distribution
of our ministers.

this foundation; namely, Robert King,
A. B., B. D., Sumimerville, Ga., who expects

an evangelist in Pitt county and later,
as intimated above, to go to China as
a missionary; and Joseph Kenton Parker,

The Woman's Presbytcrial Missionary
Union held its tenth annual meeting in
the Bream Memorial Presbyterian
church, Charleston, W. Va., April 24-26,
1912. An unusually good programme
was carried out in full. Rev. Armstrong,
a missionary from Chiha home
on furlough, made an able talk. All
who attended were greatly helped. This
session of the Union shows what a wide
field for labor there is.

of this church. The annual reports
t? Presbytery were most encouraging;
there were 39 additions to the church
and an increase in funds contributed
to all causes of $2,644.57. The church
has been completed during the past
year. The results of the fine meeting
held last Novemlber by Dr. Ogden, of
Atlanta, are still apparent and the whole
outlook is promising

THE PRESBYTERI
ltev. Dr. Russell Cecil, pastor of the
Second church, Richmond, Va., and Moderator
of the General Assembly of the
Southern Church, delivered one of the
two prominent addresses at the Centennial
Celebration of Princeton Seminary
on'Monday last, his subject being: "The
Making of a Minister." The Moderator
of the Northern Assembly, Dr. Carson,
delivered the other leading address.
A CORRECTION.
In my recent articles I inadvertently
made Dr. Chas. Hodge, instead of his
son Dr. A. A. Hodge, the author of "An
Exposition of the Confession of Faith."
The slip left the argument of the articles
unaffected, still I desire to correct
it. W. AL McPheeters.
LET THE HOLY SPIRIT CONTROL.
Are the women of the Southern Presbyterian
Church asking for a Secretary
of Woman's Work because they think
it wise? Or do they desire that God in
his infinite wisdom shall decide whether
or not it is for the very best interest of
his kingdom for us to have a Secretary?
In the days of old the Israelites were
so clamorous for a king that God allowed
them to have one, although, in
his infinite wisdom, be knew it was not
best. Is it not possible that the same
thing might happen again in our day,
m which he might give us our request
but send leanness into our soul?
luereiure, i pietiu witn an wno are
working for the advancement of Christ's
kingdom to pray, no.t for a Secretary of
Woman's Work, but that the Holy Spirit
may have full control in this vital matter,
in order that if the Assembly decide
in the affirmative we may know that
our Secretary has been given to us by
God hitaself; and she will be a power
in his kingdom. If the overture be declined,
we will then know that i; is
God's decision through our Assembly,
and we can thank him for withholding.
Let us give ourselves to prayer; let
us continue in prayer, and let the burden
of our prayer he, that the Hoiy
Spint may have full control.
