Rev. J. D. Keith resigned the Lake
City church and was dismissed to. Atlanta
Presbytery. iHe has accepted a
call to the Conyers group of churcheB.
Dr. J. G. Anderson will be installed in
Gainesville iMay 1st, by the following
committee: Revs. J. G. Venable, I. "W.
Waddell, and Elder Chas. T. Paxon, of
the Springfield church.
Rev. J. W. Purcell, D. D., and Elder
Chas. T. 'Paxton were elected Commissioners
to the Assembly and Rev. EL W.
Way and Elder C. D. Wood, of the Archer
church, were elected alternates
/The Presbytery overtures the Assembly
to ta/ke favorable action on the overture
from the Missouri Synodical Union
touching the election of a Secretary for
the Women's Work.
The Presbytery did not give 'its consent
to making the Synod a court in
gradation, but expressed itself as favorable
to some such scheme and asked for
the continuation of an ad Interim committee,
with some suggestions for its
consideration.
The Fall Meeting will be in the Riverside
church, Jacksonville, October 29th.

PRESBYTERY OF EAST MISSISSIPPI.
The Presbytery of East Mississippi
met at Starkville, Mies., April 16, 7:30
P. M., and was opened with a sermon by
the Moderator, Rev. F. W. Lewis, D. D.,
from Acts 20:24.
E. G. Boyd, an elder of the Pontotoc
church, was elected Moderator, and J.
H. Adcock, an elder of the DeKalb
church. Temporary Clerk. There were
present during the session fourteen
ministers and eleven elders.
Rev. A. 3. Crowell was received from
Central Mississippi Presbytery. He accepted
calls from the Houston group of
churches and arrangements were made
for his installation.
A petition was presented asking for
the organization of a church at Tishimingo.
Miss., which was granted.
The report of the Committee on Local
Home Missions called attention to. the
great destitution in our midst and urged
increased activity.
A Committee on Church Extension
was appointed with Rev. John Goff as
Chairman, and all our Sabbath schools
were requested to make a contribution
to this cause on the first Sabbaths of
May and September, and forward to
the Chairman. A report was presented

tliusiaam. and progress, and Presbytery
highly commended the zeal and activity
of the Union.
ChurcheB and Sabbath schools were
urged to remember the needs of the
Palmer Orphanage. Booneville, Baldwyn,
inka and New Hope churches
were granted permission to employ Rev.
H. M. Jenkins as supply for one year.
Presbytery answered the overture from
the Assembly on the Elect Infant Clause
in the affirmative by a vote of 19 to 4.
The second overture regarding cases
without process was also answered in
the affirmative. The other two overtures
were answered m the negative.
The Committee on. Presbyterian Evangelism
made an encouraging report.
The Presbytery was rejoiced to hear
of the good work being done by Chickasaw
Female College. Rev. W. V. Frierson
and Elder John F. Frierson were

money to pay off an indebtedness incurred
by the Board of Trustees of the
Chickasaw College.
Rev. F. W. Lewis, D. D., was elected
Stated Clerk and Treasurer of the Presbytery
for the ensuing term of four
years.
Rev. W. E. B. Harris, principal, Saltil
lo, Miss; Rev. John Goff, alternate,
Pontotoc, Miss.; J. H. Adcock, principal,
DeKalb, Miss.; C.. A. Roberta, alternate,
Nettleton, Miss., were chosen
Commissioners to the General Assembly.
After a hearty vote of thanks Presbytery
adjourned to hold its next stated
meeting with the Walnut Creek churoh.

There were present eleven ministers
and ten ruling elders.
Rev. It. 11. Miller was received from
the Presbytery of Central Texas. Rev.
S. M. Tenney was dismissed to the Presbytery
of Kastern Texas, and Revs. W.
K. Johnston and J. F. Forsyth to the
Presbytery of (Panhandle.
Dr. J. D. IMaLean, Rev. J. W. Moore
and Rev. J. E. Green sat as correspond,
ing members. Dr. McLean addressed
Presbytery in the interest of the Orphanage,
and Rev. Mr. Moore made two
addresses in the interest of Foreign Mission
work.
The Laymen's Conference occupied
the whole of Friday and some excellent
addresses were made. Friday of the next
spring meeting was set apart for another
conference.
Assembly overtures: The one In reference
to infant salvation was answered
in the affirmative. The one touching
confession before church sessions was
answered in the affirmative. The one in
reference to the appointment of a Judicial
Commission, and also that touching
the co-ordination of church courts
were answered in the negative.
The Pre8byterial sermon on Regener

and Rev. Dr. C. C. Weaver was
appointed to preach at the next meeting
on Home Religion in its relation to
the call to the ministry.
The reports from the churches were
in the main encouraging, the most discouraging
feature at present being the
scarcity of ministers. Presbytery commended
the work of the Women's Missionary
Union in securing a Presbyterial
manse for the use of the evangelist located
at Mt. Pleasant.
Commissioners to the Assembly are
Rev. A. W. Wilson, D. D.. and Ruline
Elder J. M. Henderson, with Rev. C. C.
Weaver, Ph. D., and J. P. Huie, alternates.
Center church was chosen as the place
for the next meeting.
On Saturday, April 14th, Rev. S. D.
Ixngan, D. D., was installed as pastor of
th? Tyler church.
A resolution was passed urging all
our ministers to preach on Family Worship
on the second Sunday in June, or
as soon thereafter as possible.
With a very cordial vote of thanks for
the excellent entertainment and courtesy
accorded us In Tyler, Presbytery
adjourned to meet in Greenville May 8,
1912, at 4:30 P. M.

PRESBYTERY OF CISCO.
Presbytery met at Haskell, Tex., April
19, 11 A. M. There were present three
ministers and five elders. Rev. J. A.
Gray was chosen Moderator and Elder
G. D. Ward, Temporary Clerk.
Overtures: The Presbytery declined to
give its advice and consent to all four

Overture to Synod: The Presbytery
overtured the Synod to unite the Presbytery
of Cisco with the Presbytery of
Fort Worth. A communication was sent
to the Presbytery of Fort Worth giving
reasons for this action and requesting
that Presbytery to take similar action.
Home Missions: Much time and study
was given to this work. The cryinz
neea is for men. Plans were made for
reaching all our vacant churches at the
earliest possble time and giving them
some kind of supply. At present only
6 of our 20 churches are supplied.
Rev. P. H. Burney was granted per*
mission to labor without the bounds until
the next meeting.

The Presbytery of South Carolina met
in Whitmire, S. C., April 23, with nine
ministers and seventeen elders present.
No member left before adjournment. At
the request of the retiring Moderator,
Elder R. P. Blake, Rev. W. H. Hamilton
preached.

Received: Rev. E. C. Bailey from Pee
Dee Presbylery. A committee with Rev.
W. H. Hamilton, Chairman, was appointed
to instal him at Edgefield, Trenton
and Johnston on the first Sunday of
June.

Systematic Beneficence: This committee
advised the Presbytery to take a
step forward and Presbytery decided
that it would attempt to raise during
the year for Foreign Missions, $10,000;
Assembly's Home Missions, $2,600;

President Douglass brought an
encouraging report of this institution.
It seems in a fair way to reach the high
Ideals of the President.
Elect Infant Clause: Presbytery voted
to approve the proposed change.
Amendment to (Rules of Discipline,
paragraph 235, Presbytery voted against
amendment.
Amendment to Form of Government,
paragraph 94, Presbytery voted against
amendment.
