Club Notes.
Dear Doctor: I have been reading
with some interest your answers in
our paper and would like to know
what you can say in rogaid to my own
case. 1 am a man 54 years old, father
of four children, now grown up. My
general health has not been good for
some years, especially the last two
years. I have never been bedfast, but
am weak and rather frail, subject to
rheumatism and stomach trouble. Have
headache a great deal, easily exhausted
and appetite hard to control. Vt hat 1
wish to speak of more particularly is
a roaring in my head. For about four
weeks I have had a constant roaring,
sounding like the hum of a telephone
pole, In my head. It seems to be more
on the right fiide and back part of my
head. It annoys me very much. i
went to a doctor and had my ears examined,
but found nothing wrong; he
said the trouble came from a general
run-down condition. If ,1 have not
made my case plain will write fuller
description. M. H. R.
You tell the story quite plainly. The
entire cause of your suffering is your
stomach; not only a radical change of
diet, but absolute control of your appetite
must occur before results will
appear. I would, if I were to direct
your specific treatment, first, outline a
complete and specific dietary, but before
beginning its use, I would clean
out the entire alimentary canal, by a
fast from three to six daye, or until
your tongue would present a clean and
healthy appearance. Then begin the
new diet in a very careful manner,
and you would soon begin to gain <n
both strength and fiesh. The roaring
in the head would quickly disappear.
Of course careful and physical examination
is always advisable in such cases
as there are sometimes causes for illness
which can be found in no other
way.
A WINDOW-WASHING HINT.
Do not put soap into the water with
which windows are to be' washed. A
little borax or household ammonia may
be added. Use very little water. WiDe
off the window-casing with a dry cloth
and rub it over the glass as well before
you begin to wash. This removee
the dust which would otherwise streak
the pane. The cloth should be well
wrung out before it is applied to the
glaBB and this should be rubbed drv
at once. A small quantity of kerosene
added to the water gives a polish to the
glass and in winter a little alcohol ii.
the water keeps in from freezing on the
pane. Old newspapers rubbed 3oft .n
the hands are admirable for giving iht
glass a final polish.?'Woman's Home
