THE PEERLESS CHRIST.
Some years ago in an international
religious conference. on.e of the speakers
frequently spoke of "Jesus and his
,eers." The next speaker began by asserting,
"My Master has no peers." The
..pplause of the Christian audience was
instant and loud. Here is suggested the
difference between so-called liberal and
I , vaugelcal Christianity. According to
the one Jesus was among many great
and good teachers; according to the
other he was in a class apart, the unique
and peerless one. This is the way the
Ftible represents him. It represents him
as being the very Son of God; one with
the 'Father; associates him with the
Father in the creation of the worlds;
^et8 him before us as the proper objeect
of our worship; makes him the judge
of all men, the dispenser of awards and
punishments. He is without a peer.?

THE PRESBYTKRt
SHALL I TELL MOTHER!
I heard a mother say to her boy once:
"You used to tell me everything?all the
things you had done, all you wished to
do. If you received a letter from a
friend, you were glad to let me read it;
It lay wnere we all might see what was
in it; so many times my heart has been
made glad because you trusted me bo.
But now it is so different; you do not
want me to know."
There was something quite like a wail
of trouble in the words. I am aure the
heart ant of which they came was full
of sorrow and fear?sorrow for the lack
of the old-time truet, fear for the future
of the boy who no longer trusted h-is
mother.
Another, and this time it was a fath.
er that was speaking, said thus:
"From the first I have done all in my
power to keep the confidence of my
boys. I have told them they might do
anything or have anything I do or have,
if they would come and tell >0:0 all
about it; but that the moment they
ever deceived me, our close relationship
would come to an end."
And the confidence between this father
and his boys was good to behold. Tell
father and mother about it, boys. You
will never be sorry if you do; and
surely there will come a day some time
when your heart will smite you sorely
if you keep baok things that you should
have laid bare before them.
Why tell your parents? Because thev
love you and long to be loved and trusted
in return; becauBe they have in the
years they have lived learned many
things which are yet unknown to you;
because if you tell them all about the
things which are in your hearts they
may know how to advise you, so that
you may avoid trouble, which might
otherwise sweep you off your feet forever;
because you can not be true to
father and mother and not tell them
everything.
Do not let anything get into your life
to break the harmony between you and
father and mother. Such a little thing
may do so?one wrong word whispered
into your ear; one wicked thought and
base desire. Do quickly and tell those
who are dearest to you of all on earth
about it, and let them help you to get
back once more into the right way.
"Shall J tell mother?"
Yes, it is the only right way. Trust
ber, and she never will prove untrue to
you.?Young People's Weekly.
THE GREAT COMMISSION.
And Jesus went about all the cities
and villages, teaching in their synagogues,
and preaching the Gospel of the
Kingdom, and healing every sickness
and every disease among the people.
.But when he saw the multitudes, He
was moved with compassion on them
because they fainted, and were scattered
abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.
Then saith He unto His disciples,
The harvest truly is plenteous, but the
laborers are few;
Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest,
that He will send forth labourers
Into His harvest. Matthew 9:35-38.
And Jesus came and spake unto them,
Baying, All power is given unto Me in
beaven and in earth.
Go ye therefore and teach all nations,
baptizing them in the name of
the Father, and of the Son, and of the
Holy Ghost:
