Purham: The First church of Durham
has just passed through a most
delightful meeting of two weeks, in
which the preaching was done .by the
gifted evangelist and sweet gospel sing
?r, jn.ov. r rauK mu wragat. uoa s people
gave themselves very earnestly to
prayer and personal work, and the gospel
was preached with great earnestness
and clearness. Many of the members
of the church putblicly rededicated
themselves to Qod, and about seventyfive
professed thoir faith In Christ, and
signed cards expressing their desire to
unite with some church. Forty-nine of
these have already been received into
this church, and about fifteen into
other churches. We believe that our
whole church and community has been
blessed by these services, and we are
grateful to God for sending his gifted
and consecrated servant to us. We
commend Brother Wright most heartily
to pastors desiring help In evangelistic
services.

Bethany, In Union County: Two
years and a half ago we began serving
the Alt&n church, seven miles south of
Monroe, as a part of the work of the
evangelist of Union county. As the
membership of the church was small
and there was no other point to group
with it, we asked the Allan officers to
jook up another point as an evening
appointment. As a result of this effort
we received an Invitation to preach at
Montgomery's school house. The next
spring a Sabbath school was organized
which still continues and has rendered
good service to the community. As
the work continued the people became
more and more Interested and began
to ask for a church building and an
organization. In response to this appeal
we began last February to prepare
material for the new church, and
in August last a beautiful location was
secured, a contractor employed and
work begun on the new building. Having
secured a modern plan and good
material the 'building is the best and
most up-to-date edifice in the township.
Having gotten the building to a point
where it could be used, a meeting was 4
begun there on November 17th lasting
ten days. On the last day of the meeting
a church with 2S members, including
three elders and two deacons was
organized, and began their church life
full of hope for the future. Rev. Leonard
Gill vias with us on the last two
days of the meeting and rendered valuable
service. He with Elder R. W. Elliott
of the Altan church and the evangelist
composed the compnission of organization.

A Word from Greensboro: It seems

The response was enthusiastic, ladies
and gentlemen, adult classes and children
coming forward eagerly to receive
the money and sign the cards.

and forty-nine dollars, twenty-eight

and this is but a beginning.
And now the question arises, What
shall we do to make money, and what
can 1 do?
This is an age of wonderful versatility
among women, and many gifted fingers
are idle for want of a purpose.
Could there be a more insuring one
than this work offers? We can but try.
Let no hand he withheld, ilta co-operation

at hiB recent appointment to a good
sized congregation, which attended despate
the very codd weather. He always
draws good congregations; he
preaches the word with power and is
greatly beloved as a pastor. He never
lorgets to inquire after the physical as
well as the spiritual health of his people,
and he Is careful to visit them
when it is necessary. He also preached
at Hopewell school house in the afternoon.
He has good attendance there,
too. Owing to a called meeting of

after the meeting at the school

Our people have been greatly blessed
during the closing year. We have lost
only one member by death, and our
churoh has been earnestly engaged in
all departments of the Church work,
and notwithstanding the stringency of
the times in money matters, have done
well In meeting their obligations.
Many of our memlbers have made real
sacrifices to meet their obligations, and
they have beem blessed in many ways,
wusuiis iae ix>ra and proving bis
promises, and 'having their faith and
zeal strengthened. We are looking forward
for more and better "work to be
done next year (1913) than ever before
by onr Salem people, and we pray
that the Lord will put it into the hearts
of the entire Oburoh to do likewise.
