A WORD OF APPROVAL FROM
GEORGIA.
Please allow me space to make some
suggestions regarding the talent system
suggested by Dr. Smith for raising
funds with which to pay oft the Foreign
Mission debt. At the outset let me say
thnt I am only an elder and would not
i:ndertnk? a discussion with anv theo
loglan as to whether or not the proposed
plan Is directed by the Scriptures,
hut the matter presents Itself to
ne this way: There Is an enormous
debt hanging over the Committee which
Is no less than the debt of our dhurch.
It was Incurred In a bona fide effort on
the part of the Committee to carry out
our Master's injunction to carry the
gospel to every creature and should be
paid and paid right away. Lf the Lord's
people would feel the burden of this
debt and pay it off tt would be all right,
but appeal upon appeal has been made
and the people have not responded, so
some other plan should be resorted to.
There can certainly be nothing unscriptural
In the talent plan. As for

to the whole church and to every
Punday school to do something. During
the present month the treasurer of our
church distributed some money among
the children and the grown people with
instruct ions to use and make return
thereof in March. Every one of them
have taken hold of it and seem to feel
a sense of personal responsibility in
making as much as possible in a legitimate
way to aid in eliminating this
debt, ami from present prospects each

We arc to have a meeting in celebration

we expect to n.ive a good social time

I believe It has already aroused
a greater Interest on the part of our
membership than anything that has
been done in a long tme. My experience
Is that when you can get people to
work In the Sunday school and church
ihey will take more Interest In It.
Why throw cold water on the plan?
Tf more time were taken In doing something
instead of writing so much, more
would be accomplished. Let us all fall
