the training necessary for Christian
leadership. First, a knowledge of
God's being is necessary; then a
knowledge of His law; third, the abil
ity to let Him help and not try to
do it all is required; and finally there
must be willingness to go as far as
God opens the way, trusting Him to
<>l>tiii it further, as we go, without
demanding to see all tho road wo
must travel before starting.
Several delightful social functions
had been arranged for tbe pleasure
of the guests. A barbecue on the
second day of the convention was a
most enjoyable occasion. Cars con
voyed the guests to the picturesque
picnic ground at Lion's Head Spring,
a half mile above Georgetown, on the
Sail Gabriel River. After exploring
the neighboring rocks and cliffs, all
assembled to a bountiful supper of
barbecue.

THE BEST C. E. SOCIETY IN THE
u. s.
The Christian Endeavor Society of
Olivet church. McConnellsville, S. C.,
is the society which brought home
from the State Convention, held at
Greenville, the silver cup for having
the highest number of points on its
Efficiency Chart. The Southern Sec
retary of the United Society of Chris
tian Endeavor told the delegation
representing the society that, in so
far as he knew, no other society in
the United States had ever attained
as many points (528).
This matter is of particular inter
est to the writer in that this live
society of 135 members reports a For
eign Mission study class of eighty-ono
members. This membership includes
all ages from "seventy years young"
to "seven years old." These were
divided into three classes according
to age, and of the three text-books,
"Triumphs of the Gospel in the Bel
gian Congo," "A Noble Army" and
"Under Many Flags," the one suit
able for the group was chosen, but
all ages are members of the one or
ganization.

WESTMINSTER YOUNG PEOPLE'S
CONFERENCE.
Kerrville, Tex., July 12th-19tli.
The annual Conference for Young
People for the Synod of Texas will
be held at Kerrville July 12th-19th.
Provision is being made to take care
of three hundred young people, and
every church in the Synod is urged
to select their delegates at once and
send in the registrations. Registra- I
tions should be made with Rev. C. [j
H. Storey, Corsicana, Tex., and should *
be accompanied with the confeleuce
fee of $1. While the mornings will
he devoted to serious study, includ
ing missions, Sunday school. Chris
tian Endeavor and Bible Study, and
a period devoted to the open discus
sion of young people's problems, ine
well-planned recreational program
will be carried out in the afternoon
under the direction of competent
leaders. No small part of the Con
ference aim is to teach young people
to have the highest social enjoyment
while working for Christ. A splendid
faculty has been secured for this Con
ference, including Dr. W. L. Lingle,
Dr. B. R. Lacy, Dr. J. O. Reavis, Dr.
Homer McMillan, Miss Elizabeth McE.
Shields, Mr. H. C. Fullerton. Pas
tors and Sunday school superinten
dents should see that their church is
represented. Many churches, through
the organized Men's Bible Classes or
other organizations, are lending
financial assistance to make it possi
ble for some to attend. This is un
questionably a splendid investment,
and will yield large returns. For
further information write Rev. C. H. j
Storey, Corsicana, Tex. A very at
tractive leaflet has just been issued
on this Conference.
