Answer: To live Is to know the
Master, to love Him, and to serve
Him.
As I have found from experience
that a questionnaire such as the fore
going creates a desire for Informa
tion, I heartily recommend its use in
the local and Presbyterial auxiliaries
or in circles. It is surprising how
many active workers are not able to
give correct answers. We should be
intelligent workers..
The questionnaire should be varied
to meet local needs.
WOMAN'S CONFERENCE, CHICKA
SAW COLLEGE, PONTOTOC,
MISS.
Two conferences will be held in the
Synod of Mississippi this summer, a
Young People's and Woman's Confer
ence in Chickasaw College, Pontotoc,
June lst-8tli, and a general confer
ence in Belliaven College, Jackson,
June 13th-23d, at which time the Mis
sissippi Synodical Auxiliary will hold
its tenth annual meeting and fourth
annual Woman's Conference.
An unusually fine program has been
prepared for the conference in Chick
asaw College, Pontotoc. The morn
ing will be divided into three periods.
The general theme for the opening
period each morning is, "Fruitfulness
in the Local Auxiliary." Inspirational
and practical subjects will follow for
general discussion. In the evening,
just before supper, when all are rest
ed and ready for something especial
ly good, inspirational addresses and
interesting pageants will interest all.
As this is the first Woman's Confer
ence to be held in this part of the
Synod, every woman within reach
should attend, if possible, and inter
est others to do so. Mrs. C. S. Everts,
Synodical secretary and Auxiliary
visitor, who so successfully conducted
the Belhaven Conference three years
ago, is the leader for the Chickasaw
Conference. Entertainment will be in
the college, where, together as one
family, all will enjoy the association,
as well as the program. Rates for
room and board are $7.50 for the
entire period, and $1 matriculation
fee. Let each "reader become a com
mittee of one to work up a splendid
attendance to enjoy the good program
and music, to enjoy the delightful
shade of Chickasaw College campus,
to enjoy the congenial association, to
get the help and inspiration that is
to be had only in such meetings.
ST. JOHN'S PRESBYTERIAli
CONFERENCE.
An efficiency conference of the
Woman's Auxiliary of the Presbyte
rian Church, St. John's Presbytery,
was held in the First Presbyterian
church, Arcadia, Fla.f on May 11th
and 12th.
The conference was very ably con
ducted by Mrs. F. A. Sale, of Mul
berry, Fla., who is the Field Secretary
of the Presbyterial.
The program for the first after
noon's meeting included a splendid
talk by Mrs. Sale on what the Presi
dent of the Presbyterial may expect
of the Individual Auxiliary.
In the evening Rev. Palmer C. Du
Bose, a missionary home on furlough
from Soochow, China, gave a lecture
on the women of China. This was es
pecially interesting, as Mr. DuBose
is a brother of the local pastor. An
offering was given for the church
which Is being built in Soochow as a
memorial to those sainted pioneer
missionaries, Rev. and Mrs. Hampton
C. DuBose.
After the lecture a reception was
given by the Auxiliary members In
honor of Mr. DuBose and the visiting
delegates.
The Friday morning session was
devoted to discussions of the duties
of the secretaries of causes. After
Mrs. Sale's talk on this subject each
secretary felt that her cause was the
most important and was filled with
a desire to work more faithfully and
energetically.
A question box was conducted from
which ? many helpful ideas were
gained.
The closing session was devoted to
Young People's Work. Mrs. Sale was
at her best on this subject, in which
she is so intensely interested.
Much good was derived from the
conference that will greatly benefit
each Auxiliary represented.

Birthday Celebrations
BLiACKSTONE, VA.
The Presbyterian Auxiliary of
Blackstone observed the tenth anni
versary of the birth of the Woman's
Auxiliary on the 15th instant. The
meeting was held at the manse and
was conducted along the general line
of the suggested program. Invitations
had been sent to all the members,
and about fifty were present. After
the opening exercises and regular"
business had been concluded, two of
the ladies sang very effectively, "I
Gave My Life for Thee," while the
members walked up to the table two
by two and deposited their gifts.
Some of those absent sent offerings,
and the entire amount received was
137.71. Next came the large birth
day cake, brought in by two ladies
and placed on the table. Then eleven
young ladies brought in the candles,
lighted them, and arranged them in
order. The cake was finally cut by
the president and served with ice tea
to all present. This was one of the
most enjoyable meetings in the his
tory of the local Auxiliary which has
simply worked wonders in the life of
the Church, especially among the la
dies. Blessings upon the individual
who will suggest something which will
do as much for the men of our
churches.

BRITON I, MISS.
On May 2d, in the home of Mrs.
Enoch Hoga, the women of the church
celebrated the tenth anniversary of
the "Woman's Auxiliary." A splendid
program and a delightful social hour
was enjoyed. The offering for Mis3
Dowd's School was $14.50.
A union service was held in the
Presbyterian church on Sunday night,
May 14th. The house was beautiful
ly decorated for this "Mothers' Day"
occasion, and the church was filled.
Rev. S. G..Pope, of the Baptist church,
delivered the message of the evening,
and the choirs of the various churches
in town united in making the song
service most Inspiring and helpful.
The offering for the Old Ladies' Home
at Jackson, Miss, amounted to $60.
The Secretary of Synodical, Pres
byterial and Congregational Home
Missions in the local Auxiliary has
just sent a box of nice summer cloth
ing to the Palmer Orphanage.
We feel deeply grateful that the
manse, which is needed so much, is^
nearing completion. The building is
a beautiful brick bungalow on the
church lot, and will be ready for oc
cupancy June 15th.
8HKPHERI)?TOWN, W. VA.
The Auxiliary of the Shephcds
town church celebrated "the tenth
birthday" at the m^nse Xas? Wednes
day.
After an interesting paper on Miss
Dowd's School in Japan, by Mrs. E.
A. Criswell, and a fine Bible study
on service, based on the story of the
prophet's cake, by Miss Julia Rein
liart, and a good account of the re
cent meeting of Winchester Presbyte
rial at Keyser, read by Mrs. Olin C.
McKee, the ceremony of the birthday
cake was carried out with cerious dig
nity and pleasing effect. Mrs. J. S.
Moler, the president,^ conducted the
program. Ten ladies came forward,
one at a time, each lighting a candle
and placing it on the "cake," till the
ten candles, each one taller than the
one before, were burning and shining
in a circle. As each lady placed her
candle she spoke appropriate words
about the year's work it represented.
The eleventh candle, tallest of all,
was placed in the centre to shine for
next year. The "cake" was cut, and
a good offering was made for Miss
Dowd's School. The social hour fol
lowed and cake and fruit punch were
served.
The Auxiliary was recently reor
ganized on the Circle Plan.
With efficient general officers, sec
retaries and circle chairmen and a
greatly enlarged membership, it has
taken on new life, and it is hoped,
by the blessing of God, will do great
things for Christ and His kingdom
in the days to come.

FAILING SPRING, VA.
Woman's Auxiliary of this church
held a very pleasant celebration of
the tenth anniversary of the organ

byterian church ? a birthday party,
cake, candles and all! In addition
to the usual program for the occa
sion, the Misses Baker rendered a
musical program consisting of violin
and organ selections which was very
much enjoyed. An abundance of
spring blossoms beautified the church.
A nice little sum was realized from
the birthday gifts tor Miss Dowd's
School for Friendless Girls in Japan.
After the program refreshments were
served, bringing to a close an alto
gether delightful afternoon. ? Rock
