' hnd put Himself under the luw as
any human being was, and that law
required obedience to parents.
The other things that were told is
that Ho "increased In wisdom and
stature, and in favor with God and
man." His human nature developed
as does that of any normal boy, save
that there was no sin in it. As to
what manifestation or what evidence
to Himself there was that He pos
sessed a divine nature, we do not
know. We know that both natures
were present in Him, but that is a
mystery that we cannot penetrate, be
cause the Spirit has made to us no
revelation on the subject,

I Books
The (iospcl of Luke ? By Rev.
Charles R. Erdinan, I>. D. Publish
ers, Westminster Press, Philadelphia.
Price, $1. This is another of Dr.
Erdman's series of delightful com
mentaries on books of the Bible. In
this volume he sustains his well
earned reputation as a clear and at
tractive writer, and as an expositor
of the Scriptures, who is specially
gifted in seeing the vital truths in a
passage of God's word, and in pre
senting that truth so that others may
easily understand It. This book is
distinctly devotional in Its treatment
and will prove very attractive when
used for devotional reading and per- j
sonal study.
The Bible, a Missionary Message ?
By William Owen Carver. Publish
ers, Fleming H. Powell Company.
Price, $1.50. Dr. Carver is professor
of Comparative Religion and Missions
in the Southern Baptist Seminary,
Louisville, Ky. In this volume he
shows that the Bible teaches the prin
ciples of missions, even in the Old
Testament, anii shows the methods by
which these principles are to be put
into practice. Any one studying the
Biblical authority of missions or its
teachings on the subject will find this
book very helpful. The author shows
that the great message of the Bible
is world-wide redemption offered to
all men.
The Son of Man Coming in His
Kingdom ? By Rev. Principal Alfred
Gandier, D. D., L. L. D. Publishers,
Geo. H. Doran and Company, New
York. Price, $1.25. This is an un
usual discussion of the second com
ing of Christ, in that it does not un
dertake to decide for us, whether His
coming is to be before the world is
evangefized or after that notable
event. The author represents his
views, when he says, "No student of
the New Testament can fall to notice
that the whole nature of the Kingdom
as described by Jesus is such that its
coming must be a moral and spir
itual process rather than some one
crisis of Judgment and forceful in
troduction of new conditions." "We
hear much of pre-millennlaism and
post-millenniaism, but I doubt if |
there is any basis for either In tho
teaching of Jesus. Nowhere does
Jesus make any reference to a thou
sand years of righteousness on earth
preceding the final Judgment."
Daniel's Hnlf Week Now Closing?
Bv J. J. Ross. D D. Publisher*,
Fleming H. Revell and Company, New
York. Price, $1. This book is an
effort to arrive at and explain the
meaning of Daniel's vision of the
seventy week*. The author has
brought together many passages of
Scripture, which he thinks help to
interpret this prophecy. He cornea
to the conclusion, as the title of the
book suggests, that we are now liv
