Wood: Branson Inskeep Wood fell
peacefully asleep Sunday afternoon,
October 29, 1922, at his home near
Moorefield, W. Va. A brief llhiess
ended a long and. useful life of more
than seventy-five years.
Gibson: On October 6, 1922, Mr.
C. J. Gibson fell "asleep in Jesus"
and was laid to rest in the cemetery
Belzoni, Miss. He is greatly missed.
Earth's loss is heaven's gain.
Toney: Mrs. M. A. Toney, Belzoni,
Miss., aged eighty-seven years, was
called home on October 26, 1922. The
church, a son and a host of friends
will greatly miss her.
REV. C. Ml. HUTTON.
Rev. Cornelius Marlon Hutton was
born in Greene County, Ala., Novem
ber 26, 1833, and departed this life
at his home in Fort Worth, Tex., Oc
tober 27, 1922, lacking only one
month of being eighty-seven years
old.
He was a man universally beloved
by all who knew him. His devotion
to the work of the Lord Jesus Christ
was ever a marked characteristic.
He was educated in the University
of Alabama, taking the first honor,
and subsequently in Columbia Theo
logical Seminary. He was licensed by
the Presbytery of Tuscaloosa in the
church in which he was reared, April
6, 1861, and ordained by the same
Presbytery October 5, 1861. His la
bors in the ministry were abundant.
In Tuscaloosa Presbytery, as Stated
Supply, he served the following
churches: Livingston. Oxford, Eliza

He supplied the following churches
in Texas: Central Texas Presbytery

ville, Whltesboro, Pilot Point, Deca
tur, West Fork, Springtown and Gran
bury. N
During the Civil War he was chap
lain of the Thirty-sixth Alabama Regi
ment, 1861-1865. During this period in
the retreat from Kentucky when one of
the men was wounded, he remained
with >him until he was made prisoner,
and was taken to Nashville, Tenn.,
and thence to Washington, D. C., for
a period of four months, after which
he was exchanged.
He was Commissioner to the Gen
eral Assembly, Huntsville, Ala., in
1871; was author of "Analytical
Shorter Catechism"; principal of the
Academy in Pleasant Ridge, Ala., a
number of years.
He was twice married, first to Miss
Jennie Gordon, of Greene County,
Ala. Nine children were born to this
union. His second marriage to Mrs.
Laura Burke, of Georgetown, Tex.
Two children were born to them. He
is survived by his widow and the fol
lowing children: Rev. S. G. Hutton
and sister, Jennie, of Kissemmee, Fla.;
C. M. Hutton, Mlnden, La.; Mesdames
Leila White, Walker Pierce and Or
line Brock, of Chicago, 111.; Nina, of
Fort Worth, Tex.; and a stepson,
Charles Burke, of San Benito, Tex.,
all of whom were with him at the
time of his death except the latter,
who was detained by sickness. He
also leaves one brother. Rev. M. C.
