NORFOLK TRAINING SCHOOL FOR
HARRATH SCHOOL WORKERS.
The first School held in Norfolk
for the Training of Sabbath School
workers under the joint auspices of
the Committees of Education of the
Methodist and Presbyterian Churches
made a modest beginning three years
ago Bach annual session of the
School has made substantial progress,
both in numbers and interest. The
School held this year reached its high
est point in enthusiasm and efficiency.
The initial service was held in Wes
leyan Hall. Epworth Methodist
Church, Friday, November 3, at 8
o'clock. The large auditorium was
crowded. First and last thirty-five
churches were represented. Every
Methodist and Presbyterian Sabbath
School was largely represented, and
there were teachers who came from
many other churches ? Disciples, Bap
tist, Episcopal and Christian.
For six days intensive work was
done under a faculty of experts, nine
in number, Epworth Church, from
seven to nine o'clock each evening,
resembled a university. The regis
tered students numbered 420;, jbut
many visitors attended from time to
time, who were not registered. The
number of credits given at the close
of the school to those who had done
satisfactory work and passed the ex
aminations was 318. It is not too
much to say that the School has raised
the mean level of Sabbath School
teaching to a higher point of efficiency.
Good results will no doubt continue
to be obtained in the months to come.
The popular response and the suc
cess of the School are largely due To
the energetic labors of Rev. John C.
Ramsay, Superintendent of Home Mis
sion and Sunday-school Work in Nor
folk Presbytery, Dr. John W. Bu
chanan, Superintendent of Knox Sab
bath School, and Rev. T. K. Currie,
Superintendent of Sunday-school and
Young People's Work for the Synod
of Virginia.
A| large number of the students
pledged to continue their study either
individually or in local class groups;
so it Is hoped that much of the good
work done will be conserved and con
tinued.

WONDERFUL. RECORDS.
In 1875 Miss Jennie Culbertson
Powers, of Germantown, Philadelphia,
made a perfect record for the year
for Sabbath school attendance. That
record she has never broken. On Oc
tober 8th last Miss Powers added an
other year to her long line of credits,
this date completing forty-seven yeard
and four months of attendance with
out missing a single Sabbath. Can
anybody equal this record? ? Phila
delphia Presbyterian.

The Greatest Gift
, which you can bestow may be the
gift of wise provision for your family's future.
They will not see it; they may never even hear
about it. But if a certain day should come, then
they would understand and remember.
They would find that you had made your will,
putting your wishes for their welfare into lthe
tangible form of directions to your executor.
They would find that careful plans had been
made to protect, for their benefit, your property,
?life insurance and other affairs.
They would find the burdens of estate manage
ment being attended to by a trust company.
They would find the trust company sympathetic
and considerate in all its dealings with them.
They would know their inheritance was in safe
hands.
You should make this vital gift of protection.
Then you can give your other gifts with a free
heart.
