WOMAN'S WOUK.

which all o? the young people of Lake
Charles had been invited.
Mr. Clyde Coulter, International
Field Secretary of the Leper Work,
told of the great work among the out
casts of the world, speaking also of
the wonderful work at Carrville, La.,
and tolling of the need of a Protestant
Chapel. The Synodical took six shares
in this building.
A demonstration of an Auxiliary in
spirational meeting was held and
thoroughly enjoyed. During all the
sessions, morning and afternoon and
evening, Mrs. A. 13. Dinwiddie was
most generous with her glorious voice,
preaching a gospel in song. This meet
ing of the Synodical was the most suc
cessful ever held, only two officers be
ing absent, there were a number of
delegates from the Presbyterial also
in attendance. The Woman's Aux
iliary of Lake Charles Church proved
a charming hostess, planning for the
rotnfort and happiness of the guests.
A delightful banquet was held at the
Church, with a musical program. Au
tomobiles were provided one afternoon
and the women were taken to Sulphur
to inspect the noted mines there.
The next meeting will be held in
the Prytania Street Presbyterian
Church in New Orleans.
Mrs. J. W. Steen, of Shreveport, was

nounced by competent judges to be
the very best of the long series of ex

i'ommittee of Christian Education and
Ministerial Relief. It is an appeal for
life and will go far toward changing
the unwise and unprofitable methods
used at the Christmas season.
Copies of the exercise with suffi

will bo provided free to all the
churches and Sunday schools of the

States. They will be sold to others
at the rate of per hundred.

WEST HANOVER tiROUP INSTI

At the meeting of West Hanover
I'resbyterial Auxiliary last May plans
were made to have three group insti
tutes. The one for Albemarle and Nel
son Counties was held at Lebanon
Church, and was attended by a large
delegation from four Auxiliaries.
The devotional was led by the pas
tor, Rev. T. W. DeVane. Mrs. T. E.
Ogilvie gave a full and most inter
esting report of the meeting of Vir
ginia Synodical Auxiliary. Mrs. T. H.
Daniel, with the help of six other lad
ies from Charlottesville, gave a most
impressive demonstration of a model
mission study class. Mrs. C. B. Sum
merville read an interesting paper
telling of some of the attractions of
the Massanetta Conferences. Mrs. \V.
M. Jtinkin gav?? a heart-stirring ad
dress on our mission work in China.
Mrs. 1). K. Walthall explained th?>
standard of excellence in such a help
ful way as to stir each heart with an
earnest desire to do her part to make
hers a Gold Circle Auxiliary. Mrs.
Hugh Simms gave a suggestive and
practical talk on what circles can do.
Mrs. T. C. Rosenkrans told of some
helpful tilings circles are doing for
Congregational and I'resbyterial Home
Missions.
Six Presbyterial officers were pres
ent and each gave some message about
the needs of her work.
A display of maps, charts, posters
and literature was presented.
Each person brought sandwiches,
which, with cake and coffee, was
served by the hostess Auxiliary.
RICH W OOD, IvY.
Recently it was our pleasure and
privilege to have Mrs. Tliornwell Tad
lock, our Presbyterial President, hold
a Conference at this church, Boone
County, Ky. Delegates attended from
Augusta, Covington, Crescent Springs,
Union, Richwood. The entire com
munity enjoyed it. It was helpful and
inspiring. 1 think each one returned
to their work with a determined effort
to do greater things for our Master's
cause, and wishing to have Mrs. Tad
lock with us again.
FIRST CHURCH, MERIDIAN, MISS.
The Woman's Auxiliary of this
Church held an all-day session, when
the day was given entirely to the study
of Dr. Ilomer McMillan's book, "Un
finished Tasks." Mrs. J. It. Waller
was the chairman for the day and to
her real interest is due the success of
this occasion.
The several chapters of the book
were given and discussed by as many
members as follows:
Home Mission Objective, Mrs. Henr*
Woods; Laying Foundations, Mrs. W.
O. W. Paine; Paying a Debt, Mes
dames Little and Weddell; Strength of
the Hills, Auxiliary; Our Future Citi
zens, Mesdames Fred Hughes, J. B.
Gressett, Sr., and Mrs. R. L. Turner;
Mexican Neighbors, Auxiliary; De
mands of Task, Mrs. C. W. Kimball.
At the noon hour, a tempting lunch
was served, in the new dining room,
by the following committee: Mrs. W.
G. Wetmore, Mrs. J. B. Gressett, Sr.,
Misses Mattie Neville and Florence
Jenkins. *
A genial spirit prevailed, and all
considered it a great privilege to be
present.
