By Marian Ramsey. The young people who attended the Virginia Synodical Young People's Conference' at Massanetta Springs last summer, led by Miss Annette Smith, decided to have a conference of their own, "The Home Church Conference of the Second Presbyterian Church." There were four meetings, held on alternating Friday and Saturday even ings from 7 to 10:15 P. M. At the first meeting, despite a heav/ rain, there was a good attendance, and the number increased at each meeting until It far surpassed anything we had ever dreamed of. The devotional services from 7 to 7:20 were conducted by Dr. J. A. Mc Clure, pastor, whose theme was "With Jesus in the School of Prayer." "Lord Jesus, Teach us How to Pray." These talks were full of deep devotional thoughts and were very helpful to all. Then came the short clan meeting, when the clans, choosing separate meeting places, spent a mysterious ten minutes in composing songs, yells, etc. The girls were divided into two clans: The Campbell's, under the lead ership of Mrs. S. T. Bragg, and the Stuart's, under Mrs. W. W. Doyle. The boys were the Douglas clan, un der Mr. H. H. Wells. There was another clan meeting from 10 to 10:15. when each of the clans met and discussed helpful thoughts gathered during the evening, went over plans for next meeting, had roll call when score cards were marked, and the meeting closed with sentence prayers. The score cards were marked as fol lows: Punctuality 10 Auditorium meetings# ... 50 Clan meeting 10 Kind deed 10 Social hour 10 Daily Bible reading.... 10 100 Attending Wednesday and Sunday night services, each 5 extra. There was a very fine spirit shown throughout the Conference, each mem ber striving to make his or her clan the winner, but all with the determi nation to live up to the Conference Oath of Allegiance, "Lord Jesus, we are here to learn the right, to live the truth, to follow the Christ the King." The Bible classes were taught by Miss Mamie Smith and Mr. H. H. (Continued on page 13.) A NUMBER Of Men and Women keep their ?
