The Living Issue.
The Judgment Begun.
Can any man who believes there is a
God, and that he is the God ot the Bi
ble, look at the ravages of the rum traf
fic all about him, and suppose that a
nation can uphold such crimes without
being visited sooner or later with terri
ble disaster as a punishment for its
wickedness ? Or can any man, ao be
lieving, look at the business troubles
we have bad and are having—at the
strikes, the riots, the murders and the
burnings which are admitted to have
been largely produced by rum—without
acknowledging that the judgment of
Heaven has already begun to be felt?
THE HARD TIMES MYSTERY.
The New York Evangelist, in a re
cent article on the “Seeding and the
Harvest,” says: “One rum-shop to
every twenty men is an all sufficient
solution of the mystery of hard times,
at a juncture when all the balance of
inter-commerce are in our favor, and
all the stalls and granaries of the coun
try are overflowing.”

Dr. Howard compares these Waters with those of the cel- ( \ A tjW

“ Indeed, in a certain class of cases, it is much mjin fm art*
to the. latter. I allude to llie abiding debility attendant upon v i 'yjSS/m :So\\s
the tardy convalescence from grave acute diseases ; and niorq' KV v

fevers in all their grades and varieties, to certain forms of TTg&sSjirr’SOejHJM
atonic dyspepsia, and ALL THE AFFECTIONS PECULIAR
TO WOMEN that are remediable at all by mineral waters. In 7
short were I vailed upon to state what mineral waters I have §y IJPIHIp®)
seen, the greatest, and most unmistakable amount of good accrue
in the largest number of cases in a general way, I would unite A AsSgy r''] If

ginia.”
Extract from letter of Dr. HARVEY L. BYRD , of Baltimore , late Professor of Diseases ot
Women and Children in the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Maryland. Dated , Balti
more. September 2\st, IHII. J
“Dining my stay at the Buffalo Lithia Springs, as a resident physician, for the season Just
closed, I had ample opportunities tor observing thehctioti of the waters of the several" Springs on
different constitutions and the two sexes. I have no hesitation in expressing the opinion that, in
the large majority of Chronic FEMAfiC DISEASES, and especially those connected with the Uro-
Genital Organs, they hare no equal as a medicinal agent in the whole range of Therapeutic applica
tion. In Leucliorrhoea, Amenorrhcea, Dysmenorrhcca and Cyatorrlioea their action may be regarded
a-i almost specific.”
Extract from Letter of Dr. G.F. Adams, Baltimore , Md.
“ I know of no rentedv or combination of remedies, medicines or mineral waters—in short, of
nothing, at all comparable to the Buffalo Lithia Waters as a remedial agent in the peculiar Afeo
tions of Women.
“ The action of the Waters in numerous cases in which I have prescribed them, is my warrant
for the expression of this opinion.”
Extract from letter of Dr. T. J. WILLIAMSON , of Cincinnati, Ohio, whose specialty is Diseases of
Women. N
No. 137 Plum Street, Cincinnati, Ohio, November 21, 1877.
“ These waters unquestionably possess wonderful powers as a curative agent in manv forms of
chronic disease. It is. however, their almost specific power in the PECULIAR DISEASES OP
WOMEN that gives to them their great superiority over all of the more noted mineral waters,
both of this country aud Europe.
“Some of the most distressing and unimaginable cases of UTERINE diffibulty which have
ever come under my observation have been entirely relieved bv the persistent use of these waters,
with but little, and in some instances without any, aiu from medicine. To make mention of a single
case: Mrs. of this < ity, severely afflicted, was for four months under the treatment of
some of the most eminent of the medical faculty of Philadelphia, deriving no material benefit from
treatment. She returned to this city and was put upon the LITHIA WATERS, the use of which
for three months resulted in her entire restoration to health.
“ I have found thorn equally ] ofceut in Dysmenorrhcn* and Menorrhagia.”
These Springs are now open for guests. Waters in cases of six gallons, $5 per case, at the
Springs. (julyll.Sm) THOMAS F. GOODE, Proprietor.
