OBITUARIES.
ATKINHON.—On the night of the 17th of Oc
tober, 1879, between KI and 11 o’clock, Rev. W.
D. Atkinson, “literally fell asleep In Jesus.”
Passed away without a struggle-never mur
muring once through nil his intense suffering.
Once he said, before he became oblivious to
all around,‘“leave me alone to my thoughts
and medltlons on the 30th Psalm.” And
again, "I want.the saint’s rest.”
He was In his sixty-first < ear, and had
preached tire gospel thirty years. The fun

been the Instrument ol building In Black
shear, on the A. * G. R. R. In which town he
hail resided for sometime past, and from
which Im traveled and preached all around
as n missionary of our Htate Board.
He died of the effects of a carbuncle on the
left Shoulder nearthe spine which Involved

rest he so much desired. Rest weary one 1

She was eminent in the exercise of all the

their loss, and many friends to weep. She
suffered much and long; but died calmly and
easy, feeilng not the terror of death, as she
passed '.to Iler Savior, that she loved so much.
Rest dear sister with your Havlor, and we will

ROWE.—Died In Auburn Alabama, on the
night of the 2fith Octob«, 1879, Mrs. Fannie C.
Rowe, wife of Dr. A. T. Rowe, and daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Anderson.
Mrs. Rowe was born In the county of Han

August. 1865 she professed a hope In Jesus
Christ, and was received Into the fellowship
of the Baptist church.
Since tlial (lay she lias shown herself an
humble and fivthfulChristian. Her kind and
gentle influence has cheered the hearts of Iter
many friends, and has crowned with a bless
Ing her own family. And now In the prime
of life she Is taken away, leaving In the fami
ly circle a void that noihlng can repair. There
are many hearts that beat In deepest sympa
thy with those most allllcted by tills dispen
sation of God's Providence, and our prayer Is
that He who dealt the blow will pour upon
their hearts, the healing olnimentof his own
love J. H. Dill, Pastor.
PEEL.—James G. Peel was born In Jeffer
son county, Georgia, on the 25th day of April,
|BoB, iiinl <llisl in Webstar county, same Blate,
on October 27th, 1879.
He was the son of Richard and Nancy Peel,
of Jefferson, and In many respects, was a re
markable man. He was one of a family of
elghtclilldren, no others having been born in
the family, and not one of the entire number
find died until tills year, when the youngest
of the eight was fifty-seven years of age. His
death was preceded by four months, by that
of his sister, Mrs. Ann Peudry, an excellent
woman and a devout Christian.
For thlrty-tive years before his death, Mr.
Peel was a meek and faithful follower of the
Great I Am.
Though he affected no display in worship,
yet heexhiblted by his godly walk and pious
couversallon, that"he had been with Christ.
He was a consistent member of the Baptist
church, and no act of his ever brought re
reproach upon the church of his adoption.
He he may have erred, but he certainly did
no wrong. . ,
A more devoted husband, a kinder or more
indulgent father, a warmer or more faithful
friend never lived. Os a forgiving spirit, lie
looked with much charity, upon the faults
and fallings ol others. He harbored no mal
ice, cherished no 111 will, but lived In peace
with bls fellows, and died In peace with his
God. He left an allllcted wife, four children
and several grand-children to mourn his loss
and to cherish his virtues. Our prayer Is, that
they, influence it by his godly life, and (rusting
the’merits of a dying Savior, may meet him
in eternal rest,
His son-in-law,
J. W. H ILowky.

Stone— Case of Mr. Wolffie, of Point Coupee Parish, Louisiana.
Point Coupes: Parish, La., April 2, 1878.
I Mb. Thomas F. Goode, Proprietor Buffalo Lithia bprings, Va.:
Two years ago I began to suiter with a severe ar.d constant pain in my kidneys, which
i was followed by violent attacks, averaging about two a week, causing excruciating agony,
i from which I was frequently relieved by the disc barge of stone of from four >o six grains in
! weight; at other times, by the passage of smaller stone; and sometimes by sai.d in consid
i erable quantities. I sought, but in vain, the best medical assistance, and as the result of
this state of things, I was reduced to such a condition that my medical advisers told me
I frankly that 1 had nothing o hope from remedies; that my condition was a hopeless one;
j and 1 looked to death alone for a termination of a miserable existence. Mr. J. L. Lyons,
i a druggist of New Orleans, about six months ego advised me to try the Buffalo Lithia
: Water, Spring No. 2, which I did. About a week after I commenced the use of it, I liad
i an attack of less than usual severity, in which I passed two small stones, one of which I
placed in a tumbler of water, and in about three hours f und it dissolved to a fine powder.
That gave me confidence, and I determined to persevere in its ~se. I have had no attack
; whatever since, nor h. s there been any discharge of stone or sand.
The pain in my kidneys has entirely disappeared , my weight, which had been greatly
reduced, I fully regained ; and my general health has been entirely restored. I very cheer
fully acknowledge my indebtedness to the Buffalo Litliia Water for my life, and the com
fort which I now enjoy. Respectfully, c. Wolfse.
