THE RYAL’S HIGH SCHOOL.
Something About the Institution and Its
Late Commencement.
The second annual commence
ment of this institution of learning
began on Sunday May the 27th, by
a sermon from Rev. J. M. Britten,
D. D., of Atlanta. The sermon was
spoken of in the highest praise by
the large crowd who heard it. Mon
day night occurred the concert for
the little folks, which proved to be
a real treat to the audience.
Tuesday forenoon was devoted to
declamation by the larger boys,
which showed they had been well
dri’.ed in this department. At
noon ;ev. W. M. Bridges of Rome
delivered the literary address —sub-
ject: ‘-Character versus Reputa
tion.”
Tuesday afternoon was given to
recitation by the young ladies.
Many of the pieces were not only
entertaining, but captivating and
showed most conclusively the su
perior ability of Miss Annie Brin
son (one of the faculty) as an do
cutionist.
Tuesday night there was ren
dered some excellent play l -, but the
want of room to seat the vast crowd,
destroyed, in a great measure, the
interest in the occasion. There
were at least twelve or fifteen hun
dren people present and not one
half of them could sit in the house.
The board of trustees have decided
to build a cheap chapel, on the tab
ernacle plan, before another com
mencement.
The Ry al's High S .ooi is a de
nominational school, established a
little more than two yeas ago. It
is located in Sugar Valley, Gordon
county, about three fourths of a
mile from the village of Sugar Val
ley, on the E. T., V. & G. railroad.
It is the property of the Middle
Cherokee Baptist Association; Mid
dle Cherokee, North Georgia, Coosa
and Floyd county. The location is,
geographically, near the corner ot
the four associations and near the
center of the whole territory—is one
of the most beautiful cites for such
an institutions in the whole south.
The community is a densely popu
lated one.; the scenery is most su
perb and the healthfulness of the
place is 'unsurpassed. The prop
erty consists of a large two and a
half story building with ajacent
dormitories, four or five acres of
beautiful campus and a number of
the finest-springs in Georgia The
institution, though a short one, has
been satisfactory to its most san
guine friends, and but for the hard
ness of the times, would have out
striped any school in the surround
ing country. The roll has been run
up to L 59 or 175 pupils, and the
prospects of a great increase in the
near future.
The institution is now in charge
of Prof. -J. W. Brinson and his
daughter bliss Annie Brinson, both
experienced and efficient teachers,
and the following resolution passed
by the board of trustees during com
mencemeut will show bow well their
work has been done, and how high
ly they are appreciated by the pa
trons and friends of the school.
“Resolved, That the attendance
and general conduct of the Ryal’s
High School are very gratifying to
us, and the secretary of the board is
hereby ordered to publicly express
our appreciation of the splendid
order enforced by the faculty—es
pecialiy by the assistant and music
teacher. And our hearty thanks
are due for the delightful entertain
ment during this commencement,
and we do most heartily commend
the school to the patronage of an
enlightened and generous public.

Under and by virtue of authority and power,
vested in the American Secutity and Tru»t
Company of Washington, D. ■ C.. by a certain
Deed of Trust made and executed by the Rome
Street Railroad Company of Rome, Ga., to said
American Security and Trust Co. on November!
2d 1891, and recorded in Book “V” of Mortgages
in the ‘.'lerk’e office ot the Superior Court ot
Floyd county, State of Georgia; pages 456 et eeq
to sell the property described in said Deed ot
Trust and all other propirty subsequently ae
quierd by said Rone Street Railroad Compauy,
subject to the terms ot said deed, upon the de
fault by said Rome Street Railroad Company in
any of the covenants, conditions or provisions
of said Deed, or any of the climes thereof, aud
a entinuation of such default for three months,
whenever one-fourth (54) In amount of the
fioud-holders of Bonds then outstanding of
said Rabroad Company recured by said Deed
of Trust, should so elect aud demaud of Said
Trustee in writing:
