Beware of Ointments for Catarrh That
Contain Mercury.
as mercury will surely destroy the sense
of smell and completely derange the
whole system when entering it through
the mucous surfaces. Suolr articles
should never be used except on pre
scriptions from reputable physicians, as
the damage they will do is ten fold to
the good you can possibly derive from
them. Hall’s Catarrh cure, manufac
tured by F. J. Cheney & Co., Toledo,
0., contains no mercury, and is taken
internally, acting directly upon the
mucous surfaces of the system. In buy
ing Hall’s Catarrh Cure be sure you get
the genuine. It is taken internally and
is made in Toledo, Ohio, by E. J. Cheney

THE ROME TRIBUNE. FRIDAY. DECEMBER. 13. 1895.
TOPICS.
A Few'Short Paragraphs From that Beau'i
:' '■ ‘i r«i citj. >, ■ ■ > ■;
Toccoa,
Dr. William E. Hall, of New York,
fest ured in the opera'house last night.
His subject was “How to get married
arid how'to stay so.” He attracted a
large crowd, as usual, and all say
they got their money’s worth. Dr.
Hall says that all persons should
marry and that the best time is when
they are young. He says that one
should keep all love letters written
before they are married. Such letters
as say, “Your hands shall never know
the terrors of manual labor.’’ When
the husband says “Sallie why don’t
you do this and why don’t you do
that?”; she should have out the above
letter and show him.
Quite a number of people from
down the Elberton road passed
through Toccoa last and this week
enroute to Texas.
Our respected and clever friend, Mr.
E. R Davis, informs us that he has a
fine water melon which he intends
cutting on Friday. It will be quite a
treat to enjoy a genuine Georgia
“Watermilion” the middle of Decem
ber and on which .only few people
have experienced.
Mr. Carmichael, ofj
brought a lot of fine hogs ’here Tues
day morning. They jwere of the same
breed as two fine hogs of Capt. Mose
ley’s of this place. Hejunderstand an
accident occurred to 2. the strain,
on which they were shipped, by
which several of them were3killed.
Mr. Carmichael says 4 he will sue the
railway company for -damages.
Last Saturday ; night there were
three wrecks on the ’Southern Rail
way. One at Flowery "branch, one
here and one in South Carolina. The
one at Flowery Branch being the
wjrstone. One freight train ran into
another, turning the engine crossways
on the track and knocking several
cars off the track, which took fire and
burned up.
The one at Toccoa was only a small
matter, comparatively.
The number of hands employed at
the furniture factory at this place is
still increasing. The number now at
work is 75. The factory is so crowded
with orders that they are running
until eight o’clock sat night. This is
an institution which Toccoa is, and
should be proud of. This enterprise
furnishes employment for men and
boys who would otherwise be idle.
This factory pays a handsome income
to the stock holders. Let us have
more such works and make Toccoa a
prosperous city in the near future.
Several of the Toccoa people expect
to go to Atlanta tomorrow, and take
in the exposition. Prof. Fessender
accompanied by Miss Mamie Burton
will be at the head of the party. They
will surely have a fine time with the
ab ove named as guides.
The Trade Edition of The Rome
Tribune was a “Dandy ” How could
it otherwise be when it has Col. W. A
Knowles as editor. He is always on
rhe “top notch.
Johnson’s Oriental Soap is far su
perior to all other so-called medicinal

Insomnia or loss of sleep, is often
accompanied by drowsiness during
the day, sensations of falling through
the bed, horrible dreams, roaring or
ringing in the ears, extreme nerv
ousness, lack of sexual desire, failing
, eyesight. Dr. Parson’s Nerve Re
storer, prepared by a specialists in
nervous diseases, quickly alleviates
every symptom, as it is a brain and
nerve food, thereby affording refresh
