CHARGE OF HERESY
Will Be Brought Against Dr. Robins at
Dalton
WHERE THE CONFERENCE WILL MEET
At That Pl vCe on November 25—The Pro
ceedings Will Be of Vast interest
To Methcdiem.
The North Georgia conference of
the Methodist church will meet No
vember 25th, in Dalton, and a num
ber of interesting business matters
will come up for discussion.
The day before the conference con
venes all the committees that were
appointed at the last session of the
conference will meet. The young
ministers who have made application
for admission into the church itiner
ary will be examined by the investi
gating committee and their profi
ciency will be passed upon. Other
matters of interest will come before
these committees and much business
will be transacted before the regular
session of the conference on the fol
lowing day.
The charges of heresy which have been
intimated against Dr. J. B, Robins may be
preferred before the conference adjourns.
No one has intimated that this will be
done, but the recent publication of Dr.
Robins has created much discussion, and
many are of the opinion that the confer
ence will take some notice of the criticism
that have been caused on account* of the
character of tne book.
4 The charges may be brought against
Dr. Robins and they may not be,” said Dr.
J. W. Roberts,yesterday. “The name of
every Methodist minister is called during
the conference and everybody is asked to
say if there is anything against the char
acter of the man that should be investi
gated. If even one man asks for au inves
tigation, the committee is instructed to
see what is the character of the charges
and what should be the nature of their re
port back to the conference.
“I don’t know to what extent the
public is interested in the matter,” Dr.
Roberts continued, “but I am frank
to say that I do not believe there is
anything in the report that charges
of heresy will be brought against Dr.
Robins. lam sure there is no great
excitement existing in the Methodist
church on account of the publication.
From what I have been able to learn,
it is nothing more than a newspaper
sensation, and I have not the slightest
idea anything more than that will
materialize. The charge may be made,
but that will be the end of the matter
in my opinion.”
■ The North Georgia conference em
braces all of the Methodist churches
in the upper half of the state, from a
line drawn through just above Maeon
and including Augusta. The confer
ence is much larger than the South
Georgia conference and embraces
nearly all of the city churches, with
the exception of Columbus, Savannah,
Brunswick and Macon.
The conference will be called to or
der at 9 o’clock on November 25th,and
will probably continue in session un
til the close of the week.

| INDUSTRIES AND INSTITUTIONS. I
If Rome would become more prosperous its home institutions must be patronized
by Rome people. Its wonderful resources and advantages for manufacturing will avail
nothing unless our factories and wholesale merchants are encouraged and sustained by
that local pride and patronage, which are the secret of the growth and prosperity of
many less favored cities.
, The Tribune is earnestly enlisted in the work of keeping Rome money in circula
tion at home. ith this purpose the following list of Rome merchants, industries and
institutions has been compiled. We recommend every institution and article mentioned
