Evansville, Ind , Dec-I.—There is a
well defined effort on the pirt of some
leading sporting men here to secu'r'e the
Corbett-Fitzsimmons fight. If it should
succeed, it will be under the manage
ment of Dan Stuart, with whom the
local men are now in telegraphic corre
fcpondence. There is plenty of money
in sight to make the affair entirely suc
cessful, ami it is belieyted there will be
no" police interference, since several
glove fights have been pulled off here
recently witii iiolicerneji present the
same as in New York. The endeavor
to get the tight here is an earnest one
and contrary action by police authori
tie-, which is not exoectfed, is the only
reason, should Dau St uart agree, to pre

Beware
Os the Knife.
Mr. Lincoln Nelson, of Marshfield, Mo ,
writes: “For six years I have been a
sufferer from a scrofulous affection of
the glands of my neck, and all efforts
of physicians in Washington, D. C..
Springfield, 111., and St. Louis failed to
reduce the enlargement- After six
months’ constant treatment here, my
physician urged me to submit to a re
moval of the gland. At tins critical mo
ment a friend recommended S.S.S.,
ind laying aside a deep-rooted preju
dice against all patent medicines, 1 be
gan its use. Bes I had used one bot
tle the eniarget' began to disappear,
and now it is ei y gone, though lam
not through wit my second bottle yet
Had I only used your S.S.S. long ago,
I would have escaped years of misery
and saved over $150.”
This experieuce is like that of all wlic
suffer with deep-seated blood troubles.
The doctors can do no good, and even
:heir resorts to the knife prove either
fruitless or fatal. S.S.S. is the only
real blood remedy; it gets at the root of
the disease and forces it out perma

Hight years ago the McKinley tariff on Carpets and Rugs tzave a great stimulus
to these industries in the United States. Scores of new mi is were erected, thousands
of new looms put in to manufacture Carpets and Rugs The -strong competition among
these mills; their increased faci ities; their impr vement- in machinery and manufac
