The Tribune is in receipt of the
Klondike Midnight Sun. It is a nov

carries the inscription “if you see it in
the Sun you wonder if it is so,’” and
it has '‘the largest circulation of any
decent newspaper published in the
gold plated fields of Alaska.” It is

and is “entered at the postoffice at
Dawson City as high class matter.’’
Subscriptions are solicited at. “one

hungry, is building the Dawson City
and Elsewhere railroad. The race for

A marvelous medicine for young mothers
is Dr. Pierce’s Favorite Prescription. Taken
during the period preceding motherhood it ;
makes strong, healthy and vigorous the or
gans upon which rest the burdens of ma
ternity. It allays inflammation, soothes
fain, and restores steadiness to the nerves,
t does away with the discomforts of the
expectant period. It insures the health of
baby and makes its coming easy and almost
painless. It is the discovery of an eminent
and successful specialist, Dr. R. V. Pierce,
chief consulting physician to the Invalids’
Hotel and Surgical Institute, Buffalo, N. Y.
I took Dr. Pierce’s’ Favorite Prescription
before tny confinement, and I was only .in labor
a short time,” writes Mrs. Minnie A. Peterson.

medicine saved a great deal of suffering end I

One of the best-kndWn of American n»eds
teal men said: "If you want to reform W
man, begin with his grandfather.” That
would be wise if it could be done. Since it
cannot be done, try something else. Reform
the future grandfathers and grandmothers.
Do CM* through education. The greatest
thing for a man or woman to know is him
self or herself. To know one-half the capa
bilities and disabilities of the human body
is a liberal education. A good start for this
education is Dr. Pierce's Common Sense

Governor Will Offer None For the Arrest of
Macon
Atlanta, Ga., Sept. 15.—Gov. At
kinson will not offer any reward for
the apprehension of the parties who
engaged in the lynching of the negro
in Macon.
When asked what he intended to do
about the matter, he replied that he
did not know there had been a lynch
ing. His idea being that be negro
was partically a dead man when he
Was strung up.
The governor did not say so, but
there is good reason to believe that he
is loosing faith in the reward remedy
for the cure of mob violence. He has
offered thousands of dollars for the ar
reat and conviction of lynchers, first
and last, but up to date there has not
be« 2 a single dollar of the money
earned, in fact, not a solitary arrest,
much less a conviction.

Atlanta Pap<r* and Theaters Are at Outs,
No More Free Puff's
A special from the Savannah News
gives the following interesting item:
Manager De Give, Proprietor of the I
Columbia and Grand theaters, and the '
local newspaper fraternity, are at .outs
with theater passes as the issue.
Mr. De Give thought that the press
wanted the earth in the way of free
tickets and he kicked. The upshot of
his protest was an agreement by wbich
be is to pay for everything that is said
About theatrical attractions at his house
by the papers, and the latter are to get
no more “deadheads.”
In consequence of this new deal, the
reporters and editors are really agitated
Most of them never paid a dollar to see
a show, and say they are too old to
begin it now. So they will have to gen
erate their own amusement. They
think Manager DeGive is sure to get
rid of the new deal when he begins to
count box office receipts made small by
lack of newspaper effort, and cry for
quarters.

But the Chicago Pitchers Couldn't Deliver
the Goods.
Ti.at Baltimore team is a hard one to
beat. The Chicago pitchers had a big
incentive to wallop the orioles this time,
but could not deliver the goods. Adolph
Busch, the St Louis brewer, in a letter
to Clark Griffith, of the Chicagos, says:
“I’ll give SSOO to each Chicago pitcher
defeating the Baltimores.”
In his letter Mr. Busch goes on. to say
that the Orioles are killing baseball;
that be does not want to see rowdy ball
triumph, and in cenc'usion urgea the
Chicago pitchers to earn the money.
At SSOO per game the Chicago-pitchers
probabiy pitched as they never pitched
before, but all to no purpose. They have
had three trials against the champions
this trip, and nary SSOO has been taken
away from Mr. Busch. While the rowdy
tactics of the Baltimore players are to be
deplored, the pluck, perseverance and
