No Refugees Permitted to Stop Here
Without Health Certificates.
CITI IS BEING THOROUGHLY CLEANED
Correspondence Between Mr. J. H. Keyuolde
Mayor oing and J. S. Thompson of
Southern— Fumigating Malls.
Few refugees from fever districts
have come into Rome, and none of those
hire have ever been within two miles
of the fever patients.
Ev'ery southbound train coming into
the city is met by either Chief Shrop
shire or Lieutenant Guice. They observe
the utmost precautions in regard to all
p issengers for this place, and all reports
to the effect that this city is a haven
for the indiscriminate reception of ref
ugees is not true.
Every one is required to show a clean
health certificate, and all people going
ont from Rome are advised to get a cer
tificate in order to avoid amoyances
from other points.
The city authorities have flushed every
sewer in the city, and will continue to
do so until they are pure and clean; They
are-having the city thoroughly cleaned,
and the sanitation will be made perfect.

For information of your people I quote

by Dr. Sawtell, surgeon of the U. 8
Marine Hospital Service, who has been

carefully scrutinized and that only those

HOWTOFINDOUr.
Fill a bottle or common glass with
urine and let it stand twenty-four hours;
a sediment or settling indicates an un
healthy condition of the kidneys. When
urine stains linen it is positive evidence
of kidney trouble. Too frequent desire
to urinate or pain in the back, is also
convincing proof that the kidneys and
bladder are out order.
What to Dj. /
There is comfort in the knowledge so
often expressed, that Dr. Kilmers’
Swamp-Root, the great kidney remedy
fulfills every wish in relieving pain in
the back, kidneys, liver, bladder and
every part of the'urinary passages. It
corrects inability to hold urine and
scalding pain in passing it, or bad effects
following use of liquor, wine or beer,
and overcomes that unpleasant neces
sity of being compelled to get up many
times during the night to urinate. The
mild and extraordinary effect of
Swamp Root is soon realized. It stands
the highest for its wonderful cures of
the most, distressing cases. If you need
a medicine you should havp the best.
Sold by druggists price fifty cents and
one dollar. You may have a sample
bottle and phamphlot both sent free by
mail. Mention The Tribune . ano send

THE RoME TRIBUNE. WcbNESJAY, SEPTEMBER 22, 1837
at Lindale and Silver Creek Springs on
the Rounsaville place yesterday morning.
He was delighted with the beautiful
clear water and wonderful volume of the
springs which are ttie source of Silver
Creek.
The largest spring at Morrison’s has a
flow of 800 gallons per minute, but all
the springs combined have about 1,500
gallons. The main objection to it, how
ever. is the distance to a railroad.
The SiherCre. k springs have a flow
of 2 300 gallons per minute, and the
conditions a,nd surroundings come up to
the necessary requirements for the hatch •
ery.
Mr. Seagle will go to Washington and
make his report. What spring he will
recommend or where it is located he
would not divulge.

Maeonic Temple Fires.
The Masonic Temple at Rome was dis
covered on fire Thursday night for the
fourth time in the past few months, says
the Cartersville News. A dense volume
of smoke issued from the first floor of
the new annex and a general alarm was
sounded. Fortunately the blaze had
gained only slight headway, and the
chemical engine extinguished the fire.
A search revealed a lot of inflainable
substances smeared with grease and oil
nt the head of the basement stairway.
Undoubtedly some miscreant had tried
to burn the building.

The Same...
Old Sarsaparilla.
That’s Ayer’s. The same old
sarsaparilla as it was made and
sold by Dr. J. C. Ayer 60 years
ago. In the laboratory it is
different. There modern appli
ances lend speed to skill and
experience. But the sarsapa
rilla is the same old sarsaparilla
that made the record— 6o years
of cures. Why don’t we better
it? Well, we’re much in the
condition of the Bishop and the
raspberry : “ Doubtless, ”he
said, “ God might have made a
better berry. But doubtless,
also, He never did. ” Why
don’t we better the sarsaparilla?
We can’t. We are using the
same old plant that cured the
Indians and the Spaniards. It
has not been bettered. And
since we make sarsaparilla com
pound out of sarsaparilla plant,
we see no way of improvement.
Os course, if we were making
some secret chemical compound
we might.... But we’re not.
We’re making the same old sar
saparilla to cure the same oid
diseases. You can tell it’s the
same old sarsaparilla be
cause it works the same old
cures. It’s the sovereign blood
purifier, and— it’s Ayers. ,
