And now for the Winter’s Trade. Better prepared than ever? Nothing could be truer. This season
we shall show stocks of goods in every department, surpassing in excellence and display, all former
years. Our dress goods stock—in every point of detail, including dressmakers’ supplies—is without a
peer in this portion of Georgia—by far the largest, the most complete and the best assorted. So with millinery, so
with notions, so with shoes, so with clothing, and this season, over and beyond all proud achievements in the past,
this store’s stronghold will be extraordinary values. After the election of McKinley we foresaw the inevitable—a
towering tariff bill. We made haste to secure our stock in the early summer, and practically everything in this
store containing wool or silk, and all articles of high tariff distinction, were secured before the vote on duties came.
We are ahead of the tariff bill, and of all competitors. We bought enormously, and we shall sell at the old prices
throughout the season, or until present stocks are in the hands of consumers. You’d do well to buy from us now
goods to last you two years or more. The new duties will make them much higher. We want your trade. We
shall endeavor always to deserve it.

This department is better equipped than ever for business. We are resolved
to make it eclipse all former achievements. The opening—the display of hats and
bonnets —has answered every question about the change recently made in the designing.
Miss Baker has more than met the condition of our expectations. We knew that she
%
would pleass the people. She has delighted them. She is an artist of rarest gifts.
Have her to make your hats. '
The hint that those who come late run the risk of losing the best may not
be inopportune. It is certain that when this stock shall have been sold you’ll
have to pay more for goods. The high tariff makes it inevitable. Come to see
us often.* We want your trade. Largest stock. Lowest Prices.
