- WHAT IS YOUR TRADE?
Each Trade or Occupation Has Its Special
Disease.
It is well known among medical men
that certain diseases are more readily
developed in certain occupations than in
others. That each occupation has its et
tendant physical weakness. Engineers,
railroad men and similar occupations
suffer mostly from kidney troubles and
men who are often exposed to the
weather suffer from rheumatism, while,
clerks aod professional men. in fact the
army of people whose business keeps
them indoors, are often times great suf
ferers from piles and constipation. In
this connection the following letter is of
interest to people whose occupation wil
not allow sufficient outdoor exercise.
Mr. A. F. Calhoun, notary public and
jeweler and watchmaker of Circleville.
vV. Va., writes as follows:
I had been a severe sufferer from piles
for years and had tried many remedies
with but little benefit, when about three
years ago I saw the Pyramid Pile Cure
advertised and sent for it.
I was badly afflicted when I got.it,
but after only two applications the piles
disappeared and from that day to this
I have never felt a symptom of the
disease.
I feel that I cannot roeommend them
too highly to sufferers from piles.
The Pyramid Pile Cure is free from
cocaine, opium or any mineral poison,
absolutely safe, pleasant and painless;
sold by druggists at 50 cents per pack
age. If there is any constipation the
Pyramid Pills should be used with the
pile cure. The pills are 25 cents per
package.
Any druggist will tell yon that the
Pyramid is the best known and most
successful and popular pile cure ever
placed on the market and its reputation
as a safe and radical cure has only re
sulted from the peisonsal recommenda
tion of people who have been cured of
this distressing ailment,
Send to the Pyramid Co., Albion,
Mich., for valuable little book on cause
and cure of piles.

Comes to JfevlE Opera Monse -October HOih,
Will Play Camille.
Eugenie Blair and her company of
legitimate players comes to the opera
house for one night, Oct. 20tb, and it
may be pleasing to-note the produc
tion of the standard drama at that
time. The ability and judgment of
this accomplished star has placed
several of those plays of human in
terest again before the public and in
a manner both acceptable and praise
worthy. Several of the older dramas
that have been so hacked and cut
out of all semblance of recognition
are restored to their former power
and meaning; and in so doing Eugenie
Blair has won for herself the ap
proval of all of the admirers of the
legitimate drama. Miss Blair’s charm
ing ability has long been recognized
and she is now in the first ranks of
American stars.
Her reportoire contains such plays
as “The Ironmaster,” “Camille,”
‘‘Mercy Merrick” In “The New Mag
dalen,’’ ‘‘Galatea,’’ “Carmen,’’.‘‘Jane
Eyre” and “East Lynne,” in which
she made herself famous. It was her
first offering as a star and its great
success suggested her appearance in
the other plays of her repertoire. In
all of the plays named Eugenie Blair
has been pre-eminently a favorite
and she has been received everywhere
with the sincerest approval. Miss
Blair has the highest and best in
sticts of the actress, she is swe,et and
womanly, as well as powerful and
convincing. She is absolutely of the
new school, being all the more es
fective through her perfect natural
ness and repression.
Eugenie Blair displays a taste for
costuming and she is considered one
of the best dresued women on the
stage. All of the plays in her reper
toire demand rich and varied dress
ing and Miss Blair has in no way
over-looked anything as to fabric
and the blending of shade and color.
The supporting company has been
carefully chosen and is spoken of in a
commendable manner. For the
engagement here “Camille’’ will
be played.

Dallas, Oct. 15.—Effie Joues, a ne
gro. has been convicted of the uiuniei
of Riley W. Stuart, a prominent and
influential Democrat of East Texas, and
the death penalty assessed.
Stuart was ninrdared on the night of
May 18, last. .Effie Joues confessed that
he had killed Stuart with a ciub, and
that he hud been hired to commit the
crime by William Jones of Long View,
because Stuart carritjii SIO,OOO insurance
in winch Jones wus interested.
William Jones was one of the most
prominent white Democrats in his sec
tion of the state. A lew nights after
.the murder and confession Stuart’s
friends broke into the Tyler jail and
shot Jones to death in bis cell, sparing
the black man to be dealt with by the
law. It was the most sensational lynch
ing Texas has ever had and scores of
white men of East Texas are under in
dictment for murder because of it.
Effie Joues. the condemned negro, still
adheres to his confession.
stoves and Ranges Used at Sea.
Stoves and ranges used at-feea have
two peculiarities. One is that the doors
are made to turn down and not to swing
and have fastenings to hold them se
curely when they are shut, so that they
can’t possibly fly open. The other pe»
culiarity is in the rack on top. It is ele
vated four or five inches and runs around
the edge of the stove to keep the pots
and kettles from sliding off.
Some stoves and ranges used afloat
are also provided with crossrods which
rim from the fixed rod at the back of
the stove to the rod in front across the
top of the pots and kettles and hold
them down and keep them from shift
ing. They are used in very heavy
weather or when the ship is rolling.
For some reason these crossrods are
more used on British than they are on
American ships.
When a vessel is in port the front rail
of the rack is usually taken out, and
then the cook has an easy access to the
top of the stove as he would have with
a stove ashore.—New York Sun.

Old Time Servants.
Servants were servants away back in
1566, just as varied, in fact, as the
woman who bossed them, and both
were much as they are in this end of
the century year. ' Servants were fined
in those days for each trivial offense.
A penny was thought enough to fine a
servant who left open a door that should
have been closed, and tho same fine did
service for missing family prayers or
leaving • the beds of the house unmade
later than 8 o’clock in the morning.
The cook might have a beau, but she
had to pay a fine every time he came of
a penny. If such rules were enforced
now, madam would find herself with
out “lady help” in short order.—Philai
delphia Ledger.

after passing through the experience of
maternity, most women And their health
seriously damaged, if not entirely impaired.
The painful ana weary dragging ana bear
ing down sensation in the back almost every
woman has at times experienced. Some
times these are from uterine displacement,
but often they are simply from weakness.
YVomcn who have to bear heavy burdens, to
undergo severe fatigue or to endure crush
ing disappointment, are subject to this and
manyotherdiseases. We cannot too strongly
recommend the use of Dr. Simmons Squaw
Vine Wine, the great female tonic and
