Age Brings to Sam Jones a Keener
Koowlege of Men.
NOW AT THE SUMMIT OF HIS FAME
Will Lecture at Nevins Opera House
Thursday Night—Many People
Coining From Other Towns.
Occasionally people grow apprehen
sive that Sam Joues has perhaps lost
some of his freshness or force, but no
greater mistake can exist.
Rev B. P. Allen, of Cartersville, says
that the last few years has marvelously
increased Sam’s wonderful powers, His
successs in winning men is the most
remarkable fact in history.
Just to think that one Georgia preach
er, without the introduction of a col
lege diploma should swing clear and land
in front of the most distinguished of all
the earth. For twenty years it has
been expected that his career would
cease to be upward. At times he would
seem to pause, but not so. His progress
was only misunderstood for the time be
ing and he is today growing faster in
power and influence than ever before.
His lecture in Rome on Thursday night
of this week will be an event to be re
membered.
Some of Mr. Jones’ friends are com ing
with him from Cartersville. Austell
will send a delegation. Calhoun and
Cedartown will also be representeJ.

' BLADDER TROUBLES.
The bladder was created for one pur
pose, namely, a receptacle for the urine,
and as such it is not liable to any form
of disease except by one or two days.
The first way is from imperfect action
of the kidneys. The second way is from
careless local treatment of other dis
eases.

Old Sarsaparilla.
That’s Ayer’s. The Same old
sarsaparilla as it was made and
sold by .Dr. J. C. Ayer 60 years
ago. In the laboratory it is
different. There modern appli
ances lend Speed to skill and
experience. But the sarsapa
rilla is the same old Sarsaparilla
that made the record — 60 years
.of cures. Why don’t we better
it? Well, we’re much in the
condition of the Bishop and the
raspberry; ** Doubtless, ”he
said, “ God might have made a
better berry. But doubtless,
also, He never did. ” Why
don’t we better the sarsaparilla?
We can’t. We are using the
same old plant that cured the
Indiana and the Spaniards. It
has not been bettered. And
since we make sarsaparilla com
pound out of sarsaparilla plant,
we see no way of improvement.
Os course, if we were making
some secret chemical compound
we might.... But we’re not.
We’re making the same old sar
saparilla to cure the same old
diseases. You can tell it’s the
same old sarsaparilla be
cause it works the same old
cures. It’s the sovereign blood
purifier, and— it’s Ayers.
ful personality which permeates all his
characterizations is not easily forgotten.
Mr. Gardner will be seen in his Charm
ing play‘‘Karl, the Peddler.” It has
gained the approbation of both the thea
ter-goers and the press, and it is said to
be the best piece he has ever presented
to the public. Aside from the custom
ary several charming songs, Mr. Gard
ner will sing his very latest songs. They
will prove a worthy substitute for ‘ ‘The
Lilac,” ‘‘Apple Blossoms,’’‘‘Oh, He
Hit Me In The Nose,’’ “The Bird Ven
der,” “The German Milk Girl. ” “Jack
in the Box,” etc., etc. A company of
real actors and singers have been en
gaged to support Mr. Gardner.
The three year old boy of J. A. John
son, of Lynn Center, 111., is subject to
attacks of croup. Mr. Johnson says he
is satisfied that the timely use of Cham
berlaiu’s Cough Remedy, during a se
vere attack, saved his little boy’s life.
He is in the drug business, a member of
the firm of Johnson Brcs. of that place;
and they handle a great many patent
medicines for throat and lung diseases.
He had all these to chose from, and
skilled physicians ready to respond to
his call, but selected this remedy for use
in his own family at a time when hfs
child’s life was in danger, because he
knew it to be superior to any other, and
famous the country over for its cures of
croup. Mr. Johnson says this is the
best selling cough medicine they handle
and that it gives splendid satisfaction in
all cases. Sold by Curry-Arrington Co.,

SOWING LOTS OF WHEAT.
Floyd Farmers Will Put In an Unusually
Large Crop This Winter.
Capt. I. D. Gailliard, one of Floyd’s
most intelligent and progressive far
mers was in the city yesterday, and
gave The Tribune a very interesting
interview.
“The farmers are all very busy now
sowing wheat, and from the present
prospect I believe the biggest crop
will be planted this winter that has
been sown in Floyd county in a great
many years. The farmers are wak
ing up to the fact that if they depend
on cotton solely they will never get
out of the rut. .
“I am going to sow all the wheat I
can get in. And I believe that very
nearly every farmer in Floyd, and
perhaps throughout North Georgia,
will do likewise. We can’t plant too
much. ”
A man who is supposed to be posted
on the grocery trade of Rome stated
yesterday that Hand & Co.. were sell
ing more goods than any two houses
in the city who sell same class goods.
High Compliment to Robert Loveman.
Says The Dalton Citizens: I. Zang
well, the great literary critic, in the last
issue of the Cosmopolitan concludes his
monthly letter with the following pretty
.compliment to a Southern writer:
”ls the poems of Robert Loveman
(which has reached me from the Lippin
cott Company) occasionally deviate into
platitude, they are niore often marked
by delicacy of expression, restraint of
handling and tenderness of thought,
while their brevity would have pleased
Poe. ”
Zangwell generally wields a sharp
lance when things fail to reach his high
ideas and consequently the compliment
from him shows his genuine appracia
tion of Mr. Loveman’s verse.

Patient Before Treatment, Patient After Treatment.
Will remain in Rome for a limited time only, so ladies who desire to take
advantage of her marvelous method of facial treatment for the removal of all
blemishes and wrinkles of whatever character, should do so at an early date.
The madam has several suits of apartments in the hotel connected with her
personal parlors for the accommodation of ladies who do not wish to remain
at home during the process of rejuvenation. Here they are under the per
sonal supervision of this clever woman. About ten days is necessary for a
complete rejuvenation of the most stubborn case. The patient may have a
skin like parchment to begin with, bnt when the mask is removed. Io! a mar
velous change has taken place, the erstwhile wrinkled and unsightly skin
has disappeared, leaving in its stead a complexion as soft, clear and oreamv as a
child’s. The improvement is so pronounced and rapid that it positively
startles one.
Remember that Madam Tully is the only individual in America who
gives this scientific treatment with an absolute guarantee of complete success
in the most obstinate cases.
Madam brings a supply of her Almondine. (dav skin food), Pascaline
(night skin food), Witch Hazel Cream, (cleaning cream), Mas-age Cups or
