Augusta Chronicl<o>v- 7
Miss Belle Walsh among other
things about the Federation meeting
writes in the Augusta Chronicle as
follows: I
Wednesday evening the superior
court room presented an inspiring
sight when the beauty and chivalry
of Rome was present with many Visi
tors who are in her midst, all,as
sembled to listen to one of the most
charming and most delightful events
ever enjoyed on a similar occasion.
The overture by Professor Fortin’s
orchestra, led by that talented gentle
man, was a musical gem and a most
delightful beginning to an evening of
rare pleasure This orchestra is com
posed of young girls and boys, and
that they possess true artistic talent
has been manifested. A prolonged
and persistent recall was a tribute
worthy of those who called it forth.
The subject of co-operation aq ex
pounded by Miss L. Graham Crozier
was ably presented, and proved the
speaker thoroughly familiar with the
subject. The vocal solo by Miss Qris
wold was sweetly rendered, possessing
that rarely gifted voice of spng, na
ture has been assisted by culture un
til her art- has now become almost
perfect. It was regretted that the en
core could not be responded to.
Owing to the fact that Mrs. Heurotin
was unable to be present on account
of illness, her place was tilled by Mrs.
R E. Park, whose strong and forceful
views on the subject of co education
as well as her ardent and active work
in this regard have called forth the
admiration of the while state. She
presented a pa per on this subject that
made clear many points heretofore
n>t thoroughly understood. A quar
tet by four of the best voices in the
city ended a program that was a
charming one in every way, and one
long to be remembered among the
pleasures afforded in this city.

The papers on the University by
Mrs. Walter B. Hill, ably filled the
place; it was broad-minded, able, and
in its arguments and questions made
an impression on the minds of those
present that will undoubtedly lead to
much future good.
Thursday, traveling libraries as a
new aid to education was generally
discussed, the arguments being led
by Mrs. John Printup. The installa
tion of officers concluded the program.
The only event that marred, if it
might be said, in regard to such an
occasion as this, was the omission of
Miss Doole’s interesting paper. For
some unexplained reason her name
did not appear on the program, and
consequently one of the very pleasant
features of the convention was omit

A South Carolina Paper Tells Some

Even those who would have prefer

some interesting information on the
