2 SJGNOR RANDEGGfift THE BMLUAHT PIANIST Will Appear At Ictld’s Opera Hoose Friday light, BENEFIT THE EMERGENCY HOSPITAL It Will be the Society Event of the Season in Borne-Signor Randegger Possesses Wonderful Talent. There is a great musical treat in store tor the people of Borne next Friday night, Nov. 10th at Nevin's opera house. After much hard work a couple of Rome young ladies who have the Emergency hospital work at heart have succeeded in getting the great pianist to come here. The New York Musical Courier says ■of Signor Randegger: “Although so yotmg, he possesses a marvellous tech nique* fa rely attained after a lifetime of study—an exquisitely sensitive touch, delicate but powerful, and a "versitality which is equally at home with Chopin, Beethoven and'Wagner. The Signor has studied altogether in Italy. As a youth he entered the Royal Conservatory of Naples, where he Was directly under the instruction of Maestro Simonelli, the founder of the institution. Even as a youth he /appeared a number of times in pub i lie and always with overwhelming success. At the age of nineteen he ■won the degree of “Maestri di .Musics.'” the highest honor bestowed >by the conservatory. Some of Signor Bandegger’s compostions have some thing of the grandeur and dignity of Beethoven, together with a striking individuality.” Concerning one of Signor Randeg ger's recitals, the Musical Courier says: “His mastery of the piano was •••MW' SIGNOR GUISEPPE KANDGGER. a revelation. He opened with Beeth oven's Sonata, Quasi Fantasia, op. 27, which is rather lengthy, and calculat ed to become tiresome to the average audience. But from his first note to to his last the andience seemed rapt in attention, and his interpretation and phrasing seemed throughout to to serve as a thread to a narrative which every person could follow. He rendered in magnificent style Liszt’s Noctarn (Love’s Dream), also a valse caprice by Deßeriot, Chopin’s Scherzo in b flat, Liszt’s “Harmonies of Even ing,” Le Movement Perpetual by Raff and Rubenstein’s Turkish March, a paraphrase from Beethoven’s Ruins of Athens. The last faint notes, far off in the distance, were a signal for bursts of applause from the audience who rose in their seats and applauded, re fusing to leave the house until he re sponded again. It was truly a triumph for this great young genius, and he deserved all he received. One of his great successes was an encorer, a gavot of his composition, which be composed when only fourteen years of age. He is a very young man, and therefore to a great extent unknown to the public; but be should be known and will be, for his wonderful ability will make him so. ’’ Many enthusiastic notices could be given to whet tbe appetites of Romans but this is enough. Company Will Probably l r lle Another !>•- murrar Before the Case 1. Called. Macon, Nov. 16. —It is said uow by parties who ought to know that the Southern railway will probably file an other demurrer to tl:e suit that has been brought against that company by the Dunlap. Hardware company et al. This litigation, involving as it does the right of the Southern railway to have made the deals it did make in getting control of several lines in the state which are said to be competing lines, is one of the most significant suits that has been filed in the United States court for the sourthern district of Geor gia for a long time. The case was brought to a hearing, as is well known, very recently in this city and reunited in a hitch, the de murrer of the Southern railway to the general claims of the petition of the plaintiffs being offset by the amend ment to the petition, which went into details in showing how they, the plain tiffs, bad been injured by the consolida tion of the Southern with other lines whereby the competition had been de stroyed which injured lower rates. It is now stated that the Southern railway people have prepared a demur rer to the amendment, or wilt have it prepared within the near future. It is not known what is the exact nature of this demurrer, but it is thought that it will in a general way take issue with the petition without bringing the case to a trial on its merits.
