Editor Tribune There is a section of the Fifth ward in the city of Rome con taining a population of about 250 which ■ does not enjoy city water privileges and has no fire protection whatever. It happens that in this paiticular sec- 1 tion it is difficult to obtain water by dig ging so that these people are now buying water at so much per barrel and, also, ( paying city taxes. The city of Home has recently spent hundreds of dollars in a . little smallpox sc.re, but it seems that it cannot or will not pay for laying a lew hundred yards of pipe. Rome furnishes water to an adjoining corporation, why does she not do as well by her own people? A question arises just here: Can the city legally levy taxes upon a section Which does not receive the benefits of a city? Respectfully, Taxpayer, Todd has more bargains to the square inch than any merchant in Rome. Studio Opened.
