MERE BOY AS A PREACHER.
Lawranee Denny A»to«lahea Atl am tian* by
, His Kelifious Kxliurtatiou*.
Atlanta, Not. 35.—Lying on a pal
let in an humble house out on Auburn
avenue is little Lawrence Denny, who
at the age of IS has attaoted the atten
tion of the neighbors as a preacher.
It was orie year ago, according to the
(tatemeut of his father, that the child
suddenly dropped his. playthings and
•aid: “Papa, I am going topreach.”
Then he told the story of Samuel smit
ing the king, from which he drew the
lesson, iu childish way, of course, that
no human interest should stand iu Che
way of tne execution of God’s law.
The father was amazed; he cold the
incident and a dozen neighbors called.
This time the.boy stood dp on a chair
in the rear of the hall, and holding in
his hand a Bible picture book pointed
out tne picture of the boye mocking the
prophet, who were punished by bears
destroying them. Lawrence spoke of
the riiema as the puuisatueuC-due to
Jawbreakers.
Os course there is no pretense that
the boy couid read, but he couid take
up the suggestion of a picture instantly
and with his father’s explanations he
became fully informed of the story.
Now the boy has ueyeloped a strong
voice, speaks with nervous gesture aud
has a deeply serious look So great has
been the demand to hear him preach iu
the section in which he lives that he
has been overtaxed, and hence the ill
ness which he is suffering.
Dr. C. E. Murphy regards the child’s
head as being pueuouaetial.
“I am a poor man,” said the father,
"but all that I can make will be given
toward educating the child for the min
istry.”
"Yes, papa.” said the Jittle sufferer;
“you know Jesus said to suffer little
children to come unto him. ”
“That’s the way he always talks,”
«aid the father.
Sick-poison is a posion which makes
you sick. It comes from the stomach.
The stomach makes it out of undigested
food.
The blood gets it and taints the whole
body with it. That’s the way of it.
The way to be rid of it is to look after
your digestion.
If your food is all properly digested,
there will be none left in the stomach
to make sick-poison out of.
If your stomach is to too weak to see
to this properly by itself, help it along
with a few doses of Shaker Digestive
Cordial.
That’s the cure of it.
Shaker Digestive Cordial is a deli
cious. healthful tonic cordial, made of
pure medicinal plants, herbs and wine.
It postlvely ogres indigestion , and
prevents the formation of sick poison.

I ity—North Georgia Confers*nee.
Athens, Ga., Nov. 25.—The Meth
odist preachers attending the North
Georgia conference here have all re
ceived a circular headed “What the
Preachers Have Said.” It is signed by
Rev. J. A. TitiinietufaA of Covington,
but is made up of the Statements from
different members of the clergy and
laity. No names are given, but the
charges are cnat rhe conference needs a
general Cleaning out. One charge is
that many men wlw will not pay their
debts are made presiding eluers, aiso
that a fondness for women is noticeable
with several presiding elders.
While uoepecidc charges are made,
these circulars are m a general way a
decided attack on some members of the
conference. It is not believed that tne
coufereuca will notice the circulars, and
•avtral mfaiaters are criticising Mr.
Timmerman for not giving more specific
Utterances iu Chis circular. While the
conference may not take notice of this
circular, it nevertheless is causing much
comment aud may bring about a discus
sion in the conference.
The Garey-Felton-Glenn controversy
concerning an article Written by Mrs.
W. H. Felton, aud charging favoritism
in the conference assignments, has been
referred to the committee on the state
of the church, and when it is reported
on it is expected that there may be some
lively developments.

The sewer committee was instructed to

have drawn money to which they are
not entitled were placed on the witness

The general opinion here is that
startling di'sclosures will be made as the
investigation proceeds.

HEART DISEASE.
Some Facte Fegardii g the Rapid Increase
Os Heart Troubles.
Do Not Be Alarmed, Tut Look For tl.e
I Cause.
Heart troubles, at least among
Americans, are certainly increasing
and while this may be largely due to
i the excitement and worry of Ameri
, can business life, it. is more often tbe
, result of weak stomachs, of poor oi
gestlon.
Real, organic heart disease is incur
j able; but not one case in a hundred of
bet rt trouble, is organic.
T1 e close relation between heart
trcuble and poor digestion is because
both organs are controlled by branch
es of the same gr> at nerves, the Sym
pathetic and Pneuuiogastric.
In another way, slso the heart it
affected by that form of poor diges
tion. which causes gas and fermenta
tion from half digested food; there is
a feeling of oppression aud heaviness
in tbe chest caused by pressure of tbe
distended stomach on tbe heart and
| lungs, interfering with their action;
' hence aries palpitation and short
breath.
Poor digestion also poisons the blood
makes it thin and watery, which ir
' ritates ard weakens the heart.
i Tbe most sensible treatment for
' heart troubles is to improve the di-
■ gestion and to insure the prompt as
similation of food.
I This can best be done by the regu
lar use after meals, of some safe, pleas-
