Literature In llie South.
The Christmas number of the Al
kahest, published in Atlanta, is the
most attractive issue yet seen of that
popular Southern Magazine. While
commendable always, it improves
somehow with every issue. ,The cover
isa beauty, in three colors, by John
Henderson Garnsey.
A reminiscence of Oliver Wendell
Homes, with illustrations, by T. C.
DeLeon, the well known author of
numerous southern novels, is quite a
feature; a sketch and cut of John Fox
Jr., by Miss Anne Wallace, is interest
ing. '‘Children and the Poets,’’ by
Chas. W. Hubner; a story by M. M.
Folsom, and some real good poetry
will be found in the Issue.
The Alkahest should be in every
southern home. It deserves a sup
port. Subscription only 50 cents a
year.
