Mrs. Betty Davis
Mrs. Betty Sue Eden-
field Davis, age 87, of Vida-
lia, died on Friday, January
1, 2021, at East Georgia
Regional Medical Center
in Statesboro after a brief
illness.
Mrs. Davis was a na
tive of Toombs County,
where she lived for most of
her life. She worked at Ox
ford Industries and Tumi
Luggage for many years
before retiring from Tumi.
She was a member of the
First Assembly of God in
Vidalia. She was preceded
in death by her husband,
Rabon Davis; 4 children,
Greg Davis, Rickey Davis,
and two infant children;
her father, Carl Edenfield;
her mother, Cassie Lee
Fountain; and 2 sisters,
Rosie Lee Flurey and Elma
Stephens.
Survivors include 7
children, BC Davis, David
Davis and wife Cheryl,
Diane Davis Taylor, John
Davis and wife Janice, and
Mark Davis and wife Tina,
all of Vidalia, Jim Davis
and wife Shannon of the
New Branch Community,
and Ken Davis and wife
Pam of Cobbtown; 1 sis
ter, Mary Nell Mosley and
husband Clinton of Lyons;
18 grandchildren; 25 great
grandchildren; and several
nieces and nephews.
A private graveside
service was held on Tues
day, January 5, 2021, at
3:00 p.m., in the North
Thompson Baptist Church
Cemetery, with Pastor Joe
Gabbard officiating.

Mrs. Jeanette Bryant
Jones, age 82, of Vidalia,
died on Thursday, Decem
ber 31, 2020, at Communi
ty Hospice House in Vida
lia after an extended illness.
Mrs. Jones was a na
tive of New Branch Com
munity and lived in Lyons
and Vidalia all her life. She
retired from Oxford Indus
tries after many years. She
attended Vidalia Baptist
Temple and Vidalia Advent
Christian Church. She was
preceded in death by her
husband, Don Jones; her
parents, Chester Bryant
and Willie Carpenter Bry
ant; and several brothers
and sisters.
Survivors include 4
children, Ernie Patrick
and wife Louise of Lyons,
and L.C. Patrick, Kathy
Leggett, and Kathrine

bie, all of Vidalia; 1 sister,

Mr. Edward D. “Bud
dy” Williamson, age 74, of
the Normantown Commu
nity, died Friday, January 1,
2021, in Memorial Health
University Medical Center
in Savannah after a brief
illness. He was a native
of Toombs County and
lived in Normantown all
of his life. He retired from

years and was
a U.S. Army
veteran, serving one tour
of duty in Vietnam. He
was a member of the Nor
mantown Baptist Church
and enjoyed the outdoors,
including fishing and dove
hunting. His parents, Thad-
deus Williamson and Dor
othy Hadden Williamson
preceded him in death.
Survivors include his
wife of forty-seven years,
Martha Braddy Williamson
of Normantown; two chil
dren, Brad Williamson and
wife Laura of Vidalia, and
Amy Williamson Moore
and husband Robert of
Lyons; five grandchildren,
Anna Williamson, Jackson
Williamson, Rob Moore,
Hayden Williamson and
Amelia Moore; six siblings,

Mrs. Lora Gale Barnes
Oglesby, age 75, died on
Thursday, December 31,
2020, at the Oaks Bethany
ofVidalia after an extended
illness.
Mrs. Oglesby was a
lifelong resident of Mont
gomery County and was
raised in Alston. She was a
retired seamstress, having
worked at Oxford Manu
facturing and Uvalda Man
ufacturing for years. She
was a substitute teacher for
many years at Montgom
ery County schools and
was over the Daniel Baptist
Association Youth summer
camp kitchen for several
years. She was preceded in
death by her parents, Troy
Franklin and Cora Ellie
Browning Barnes; and her
stepmother, Betty Beckum
Browning Barnes.
Survivors include her
husband of 55 years, John
Henry Oglesby; 1 daugh
ter, Kim Oglesby; 1 son,
Kevin Oglesby and wife
Kimberly, all of Alston; 2
granddaughters, Saman

Mr. Phillip Tippett
Mr. Phillip Tippett, age
47, of Coleman, FL, died
on December 25, 2020.
Mr. Tipett was a na
tive of Vidalia, living in
Coleman FL, for the past
14 years. He was a Cor
rectional Officer with the
Federal Bureau of Prisons.
He was a member of The
Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-Day Saints. He was
preceded in death by his fa
ther, Harold Fred Tippett,
Sr.
Survivors include his
mother, Dona Lavoie of
Tampa, FL; 1 daughter,
Brittany Cloud ofVidalia;
1 brother, Harold Fred Tip
pett, Jr., ofVidalia; 1 sister,
Kimberly Scafidi of Tampa,
FL; and 1 grandson, Bent

Mr. Leland Ely
Mr. Leland Ely, age 82,
died on Thursday, Decem
ber 31, 2020, at University
Hospital in Augusta.
Mr. Ely was a lifelong
resident of Soperton and
was a 1957 graduate of
Treutlen County High
School, where he was the
class President and Vale
dictorian. He had a long
career in accounting, work
ing at the Soperton Fertiliz
er and Guano Company for
the Hall family. He worked
as an Accountant and Tax
Preparer with Ernest Jones
& Associates in Dublin for
40 years and with McClain,
Calhoun, McCullough
and Clark in Vidalia since
2012. He grew up attend
ing Blackville Church of
God, later attended Em
manuel Church of the Naz-
arene in Adrian, the Sop
erton Church of God, and
was a member of St. Mark
Church of the Nazarene.
He was a lifelong Sunday
School teacher. He was
preceded in death by his
wife, Sara Braddy Ely; and
siblings, Ruby Cannady,
Barnett Ely, H.B. Ely, Jim
my Ely and Doris Thigpen.
Survivors include 1
son, Brian Ely (Joanne),
Lincolnton; 1 daughter,
Susan Padgett (Jim), Ev
ans; 1 brother, James Ely,
Soperton; 4 grandchil
dren, Kaylee Braddy, Han
nah Padgett, Jake Padgett
(Anna), and Colton Ely;
and numerous nieces and
nephews.
Funeral services were
conducted on Sunday, Jan
uary 3, 2021, at 3:00 p.m.,
in the Williams Chapel of
Sammons Funeral Home,
with Rev. Tim Hicks and
Rev. Randy Smith offici
ating. Interment followed
in Mt. Olive Cemetery in
Wrightsville.

Rohn Barnhill, Mark Bryn-
gleson, Vince Eubanks and
Grayson Givens.

Clark, age 77, of the South
Thompson Community,
died Friday, January 1,
2021, at his home after an
extended illness. He was a
lifelong resident of Toombs
County, and served in the
U.S. Army during the Viet

for forty-five
years. He was a family lov
ing man, he liked to fish
and make jokes to get a
laugh from family. Dallas
enjoyed cooking and was
always hungry. He was pre
ceded in death by a son,
Brandon Clark; grandson,
Anthony Kirkland; par
ents, Fleurnoy Clark and
Dessie Myers Clark; sister,
Kathrine Clark; and broth
er, Ronnie Clark.
Mr. Clark is survived
by his wife of thirty-four
years, Rosalyn Clark; five
children, Kathy Clark Kight
and husband Keith, Lacy
Clark Fulford and husband
Derrick, Becky Clark Kirk
land and husband Dwayne,
Mikki Kilgore and husband
Ronnie, and Jessie Sharpe
and wife Dena; six sis

Mrs. Johnnie Will
Sikes Cone, age 92, died
Monday, December 28,
2020, in Meadows Park in
Vidalia. She was born July
23, 1928, in Cobbtown,
later moving to the New
Branch Community where
she lived most of her life.
She was a member of the
New Branch United Meth
odist Church, a devoted
Godly Christian woman,
who was a homemaker that
loved her family, loved her
church, and loved serv
ing her community. She
was a beloved mother and
grandmother; she also
enjoyed sewing, cooking,
quilting, gardening, bird
watching, and fishing. She
was preceded in death by
her husband of forty-five
years, Burnell Ervin Cone;
parents, James Walter Sikes
and Minnie Bell Padgett
Sikes; four siblings, Ol-
lie Mae Davis, L.V. Sikes,
Louise Sikes Cone, and Al
fred Sikes; and one grand
daughter, Bridgett Jessi-
lynn Green.
