Mrs. Juanita O’Neal
Mrs. Juanita Lott
O’Neal, age 88, of the
Toombs Central Com
munity, died on Tuesday,
February 23, 2021, at
Meadows Park Health and
Rehab in Vidalia after an
extended illness.
Mrs. O’Neal was a life
long resident of Toombs
County and was a mem
ber of English Eddy Pres
byterian Church. She was
preceded in death by her
husband, James Benjamin
“JB” O’Neal; 1 daughter,
Brenda Carol O’Neal; and
her parents, Henry Allen
“Son” Lott and Pearl Ste
phens Lott.
Survivors include 2
children, James Dennis
O’Neal and wife Sandra,
and Linda Kaye O’Neal
Lupo; 2 grandchildren,
Matthew O’Neal and Lau
ren O’Neal; 1 sister, Eula
Mae Lott Rollins; 1 broth-
er-in-law, Randolph “Ram”
O’Neal and wife Trina; and
several nieces and neph
ews.
A graveside service
was held on Friday, Febru
ary 26, 2021, at 11:00 a.m.,
at Lakeview Memorial
Gardens, with Pastor Mel

Mrs. Bobbie Poole
Mrs. Bobbie Faye Cha-
fin Poole, age 62, formerly
of Soperton, died on Tues
day, February 23, 2021,
at East Georgia Regional
Medical Center in States
boro.
Mrs. Poole was born
in Rockledge and was a
lifelong resident of the
Treutlen County area. She
worked as a machine op
erator at Roydonwear and
Woolrich and later worked
with Easter Seals as a prod
uct inspector until she re
tired in the early 2000’s.
She was preceded in death
by her parents, Rase and
Iva Mae Chafin; her hus
band, Lester Wyman
Poole; 1 son, Phillip Les
ter Poole; and her siblings,
Joyce, Roy, Tommy, Paul
and Patricia.
Survivors include 1
daughter, April Smith (Al
exander), Statesboro,; 1
brother, Donnie Chafin
(Lynn), Dublin; 1 brother
in law, Trellis Peeples, Ori-
anna; 1 special friend and
her son-in-law’s mother,
Georgia Davis, Statesboro;
3 grandchildren, Marcus
Smith (Chalaiya), Jazmine
Smith, Camille Smith;
and numerous nieces and
nephews.
Burial was held on
Thursday, February 25,
2021, at 11:00 a.m., in
Holton Chapel Cemetery.

Mr. Henry Gessel
Mr. Henry L. “Hank”
Gessel, age 87, of Vidalia,
died on Friday, February
26, 2021, at his daughter’s
home after an extended ill
ness.
Mr. Ges
sel was born
in Maud, OK,
lived in Okla
homa City
most of his life, and moved
to Vidalia in 2018. He was
a guitarist and singer and
founded Hank Lee and the
Oklahoma City Wranglers.
He was a U.S. Army vet
eran. He was preceded in
death by his wife, Suzanne
Davis Gessel, and 2 sons,
Darrell Gessel and Shaun
Gessel.
Survivors include
2 children, Rebecca
Nadekow and husband
Bob of Vidalia, and Darren
Gessel and wife Lori of Pa
ducah, KY; 2 sisters, Sonia
Gessel and Mary Gessel,
and 1 brother, Delmer Ges
sel, all of Oklahoma City;
18 grandchildren; 25 great
grandchildren; and several
nieces and nephews.
The family will plan a
celebration of Mr. Gessel’s
life later.

Rev. Mary Nabb Ennis,
age 74, of Vidalia, died on
Friday, February 26, 2021,
in Oxley Park Health and
Rehab in Lyons after a sud
den illness.
Rev. Ennis was a life
long resident of Toombs
County, and started her
ministry in 1973. She had
a radio, prison, and nurs
ing home ministry, and was
always faithful to visit and
pray for the sick in the hos
pital. She was a member
of Aimwell Calvary Holi
ness Church in Vidalia. She
was preceded in death by
1 great-grandson, Nathan
Coursey; and her parents,
Brazell Nabb and Dora
Johnson Nabb.
Survivors include her
husband, Doug Ennis of
Vidalia; 3 children, Eugene
“Blue” Ennis of Aiken,
SC, Sherry Ennis Chavis
and husband Dywayne of
Vidalia, and Bobby En
nis and wife Lawanna of
Winchester, VA; 1 sister,
Rose Bud Nabb Jones, and
1 brother, Robert Nabb,

Mrs. Linda Kay Har
mon, age 71, of Guyton,
died on Wednesday, Febru
ary 24, 2021, at the Com
munity Hospice House in
Vidalia after an extended
illness.
Mrs. Harmon was
born in Chatham County
and lived in Augusta for
many years before moving
to Guyton in 1990. She
was a graduate of DeKalb
County High School and
was manager for Pioneer
Credit in Augusta and
Statesboro. She is preceded
in death by her husband,
Ralph Harmon; and her
parents, Dave Wesley John
son, Sr., and Catherine La-
verne Luquire Johnson.

Mr. Ryonn P. Knies,
age 69, of Uvalda, died
on Monday, February 22,
2021, at Meadows Health
in Vidalia after a brief ill
ness.
Mr. Knies was a na
tive of Florida, moving to
Toombs County in the late
1960’s, living in Uvalda 30
years and more recently
in Vidalia. He was a 1969
graduate of Lyons High
School and was a member
of Voice of Grace of Vida
lia. He worked with Fed
eral Pacific in Vidalia for
several years, and retired
as plant equipment opera
tor for Georgia Power at
Edwin I. Hatch Plant. He
was preceded in death by
his wife of 31 years, Brenda
Messex Knies; and his par
ents, William Alfred “Billy”
Knies and Lauwannah
Hatcher Knies.
Survivors include 3
daughters, Panda J. Vin

Mr. Robert Elwood
Straley, age 60, of Vidalia,
died on Saturday, February
27, 2021, at the Communi
ty Hospice House in Vida
lia after an extended illness.
Mr. Straley was a na
tive of Chatham County,
moved to Toombs County
in 1973, and was a 1978
graduate of Lyons Senior
High School. He worked
at Piggly Wiggly for several
years, was a beekeeper for
Lee Simmons, and more re
cently worked with Ralph
Evans. He was preceded in
death by his father, Elwood
Howard Straley.
Survivors include his
mother, Annie Powell Sis
son of Vidalia; 1 sister,
Vicky Straley of Statesboro;
1 brother, Howard Straley
ofVidalia; 1 daughter, Beth
Sapp of Lyons; 5 grandchil

extended illness.
Mr. Scott
was born in
Robins on,
IL, grew up
and graduat
ed from high
school in La
Porte, IN. After he served
in the U.S. Army, he moved
to Mission Hills, CA, in
1970 before moving to
Toombs County in 1992.
He was preceded in death
by his wife, Pearl Williams
Scott; his parents, Leon
ard James Scott and Mary
Frances Hampsten Scott;
and 4 siblings.
Survivors include 3
children, Leonard J. Scott
and wife Angela of Grana
da Hills, CA, Matthew W.
Scott of Toombs County,
and Genia Scott Daughtry

Mrs. Linda Albritton
Reaves, 73, ofVidalia, died
on Friday, February 26,
2021, at her home after an
extended illness.
Mrs. Reaves was born
in Savannah, lived in Vida
lia most of her life, and was
a 1965 graduate ofVidalia
High School. She operated
Linda’s Daycare for more
than 30 years, and more
recently worked at Vida
lia Heritage Academy. She
was a member of the First
Baptist Church of Vidalia
and the Pairs and Spares
Sunday School Class. She
is preceded in death by her
mother, Leta Mae Shuman
Reaves.
Survivors include her
husband of 55 years, Roger
D. Reaves ofVidalia; 2 chil
dren, Randy Reaves and
wife Margie ofVidalia, and
Mandy Reaves Harris and
husband Ronald of Lyons;
her father, A.B. Albritton
