Indians Win 3-4 On The Pitch
Walk-offs For TCHS Wins

The Vidalia High
School soccer teams played
a pair of matches last week
as they hosted Swainsboro
on Thursday and then
were at Bacon County on
Friday The Lady Indians
won both of their matches
while the boys split their
games.
Girls vs. Swainsboro
In the girls game
against Swainsboro, the
Lady Tigers took the lead
in the first half as they
picked up one goal. In the
second half of the game
the Indians tied the game
at 1-1, and then held on to
send the game to overtime.
It went to a shootout
with VHS taking the win
with a 5-3 score in the
shootout.
Boys vs. Swainsboro
The boys routed the
Tigers in their contest.
VHS ran out to a 6-0 lead
at halftime, and then added
a goal in the second half to
end the game with a 7-0
win.
VHS had two players
with two goals each, Kon-
ner Owens and Daniel
Hodges. James Collins,
Gauge Martin, and An
drew Davis each scored
one goal in the win.
Girls vs. Bacon
The Lady Indians had
no issues with Bacon
County as they ran out to a
5-0 win over the Lady
Raiders.
Boys vs. Bacon
In the boys game Ba
con County held a 2-1 lead
at the end of the first half.
In the second half Bacon
scored three more times,
while the VHS boys added
just one goal. Bacon took
the win, 5-2. Owens got
both goals for the Indians.
This week VHS was at
home against East Laurens
on Tuesday after press
time, and will be back on
the pitch at home on
Thursday against Jeff Da
vis at 5:00 p.m. for a boys
contest and then will host
Southeast Bulloch on Fri
day at 5:00 p.m for a pair of
matches.

The Toombs County
High School Bulldogs
baseball team played two
games last week as they
added two nonregion
wins to their record. The
Bulldogs also honored
the 25th anniversary of
their 1996 State Cham
pion baseball team on
Friday night.
vs. Washington
On Friday the Bull
dogs took on Washington
County at home. Before
the game got underway,
TCHS honored the 1996
State Champions with a
ceremony.
In the game against
the Golden Hawks, in the
top of the second inning
Washington took the
early lead with two runs.
They added two more
runs in the top of the
third inning to push the
lead to 4-0, and then
plated one more in the
fourth inning.

It was a rough week
last week for the Mont
gomery County High
School Eagles baseball
team as they were swept
in a three-game series
against Wilcox County.
Game 1
On Thursday at home
MCHS fell behind 1-0 in
the first inning, but a big
reached base on an error,
and then Dawson Brant
ley followed with a hit to
put two runners on base.
TCHS loaded the bases
on another error on a ball
hit by Jason Dukes. Then
with Wil Watts at bat,
Lynn and Brantley both
came in to score on wild
pitches to close the lead
to 5-2. Foster Jones was
in running for Dukes and
came in to score on a sac
rifice fly by Watts to make
it 5-3 heading to the sev
enth inning.
Toombs held in the
top of the seventh and
then got back to work in
the bottom half of the
frame. TCHS put Chase
Musselman and Kodie
Cortez on base on walks,
and Lynn loaded the
bases on an error. Brant
ley came to bat next and
hit a base clearing double
to give the Bulldogs the
6-5 walk-off win.
vs. Appling
fifth for Wilcox pushed
their lead to 6-0.
The Eagles scored
their only run of the game
in the bottom of the
fourth inning. Wilcox
picked up a run in the
fifth and then three more
in the top of the seventh
inning to take the win,
10-1.
Game 2-3
In the second game
the Eagles did manage to
score more runs, but the
It took extra innings,
but again the Bulldogs
pulled out the win. Ap
pling went on top with a
run in the first inning, but
Toombs answered with
three runs in the bottom
half of the first to jump
out in front.
Appling added a run
in the second inning to
close in on the lead, and
in the third they tied the
game at 3-3. Neither team
scored a run over the next
four innings, sending the
game to extra innings tied
at 3-3.
In the eighth inning
Stanley and Brantley both
got base hits to put two
runners on base for
Toombs. Trayvon Harris
then came through with a
walk-off base hit to give
the Bulldogs a 4-3 win
over the Pirates.
This week Toombs
was at Coffee County on
Tuesday after presstime.
They will be back in ac
tion on Thursday at home
against Bleckley County
at 6:00 p.m., and will take
on Tattnall County on
Friday at home at 6:00
p.m.
Patriots of Wilcox took
the win, 11-6. In the third
game Wilcox rolled to a
10-0 run rule win over
Montgomery.
This week the Eagles
take on Hawkinsville.
The first game was on
Tuesday after presstime,
and they will play again
on Thursday on the road
at 5:30 p.m. and then on
Friday in Mt. Vernon at
4:00 p.m.
