In a jury trial that
ended Thursday April
1, in Toombs County
Superior Court, Israel
Timothy Williams was
convicted and
sentenced for
his role in the
2019 murder
of Brandon
Colson in Ly
ons.
Williams
was convicted
of malice mur
der and the
possession of a firearm
during the commission
of a felony and sentenced
to life without the possi
bility of a parole, plus five
years to be served con
secutively, said Middle
Judicial Circuit District
Attorney Tripp Fitzner,
who tried the case. “The
jury convened Monday
(March 29) and returned
a verdict a little after
lunch time today (Thurs
day). The sentence goes
into effect today,” Fitzner
said Thursday.
The conviction
and sentenc
ing brings to
a close a case
that began on
October, 4,
2019, when
Colson, 24,
of Lyons, was
reported miss
ing.

COVID-19 Gathering Restrictions In
Georgia Set to Roll Back on April 8

Gov. Brian Kemp is
rolling back restrictions
on public gatherings
and a shelter-in-place
order for elderly-care fa
cility residents that have
been in place since the
start of the COVID-19
pandemic.
Set to take effect
on April 8, the rollback
marks the broadest lift
ing of COVID-19 safe
ty measures since the
governor ended a state
wide shelter-in-place
order was in place for
about three weeks last
April.
Going forward, res
taurants, bars and other
popular social spots will
no longer face limits on
the number of patrons,

2021-2022 school year.
In addition to In

Mark Davidson, whose

on March 22, the Board
approved personnel for
the next fiscal year.
