Ms. Mary Kavakos
Ms. Mary Ann Green
Kavakos, age 94, of Lyons,
passed away on Saturday,
May 1, 2021, in Bishop,
GA.
Though born in An
dalusia, Alabama, Mary
Ann was raised in Vidalia,
Georgia. She graduated
from Vidalia High School
in 1943 and was one of the
last two living members of
her class.
On October 7, 1945,
she married Ted R. Ka
vakos and, after a year in
New Jersey where Teddy
served in the Navy, the
couple settled in Lyons,
GA. They owned and oper
ated City Pharmacy from
1946-1974. After they sold
the drugstore, she was sec
retary at Lyons High and
later Lyons Jr. High, where
she was affectionately
known as Mrs. K.
Mary Ann joined Ly
ons First United Method
ist Church in June 1946.
She was a member of the
John Durst Sunday School
Class, the New Life Circle,
and the Hill Climbers;
worked with the church
food pantry; and taught the
kindergarten class for sev
eral years. She was a Past
President of Lyons Garden
Club; a Charter Member
of Beta Sigma Phi; a mem
ber of the Daughters of the
American Revolution, of
the Toombs County Li
brary Board, and of the be
loved Coffee Club Girls.
She is preceded in
death by her parents, Mary
Ethel Lester Green and
Raymond Vaughn Green;
her loving husband of 58
years, Ted R. “Teddy” Ka
vakos; son-in-law, Jimmie
Hodge Timmons; sister-in-
law, Loraine Kavakos Rob
bins and two nephews, Bill
Carter and Don Carter.

on Monday, May 10, 2021,
at 11:00 a.m. Burial fol
lowed in the Lyons City
Cemetery. Reverend Greg
Carter, great-nephew, offi
ciated.
The family received
friends in the John Durst
Sunday School Classroom
beginning at 10:00 a.m. un
til the hour of the service.

Mrs. Violet Williams
Escoe, age 63 of Vidalia,
passed away on Saturday,
May 8, 2021, at The Oaks,
Vidalia.
Mrs. Escoe was born on
December 19, 1957, in Bra
denton, Florida, to Thomas
and Catherine Williams. She
was a homemaker for most
of her life and had lived most
of her life in Lyons, GA. She
was preceded in death by
her sister, Melody Ayala.
She is survived by her
parents, Thomas and Cath
erine Williams of Vidalia; a
daughter, Robbin Williams-
Tinoco (Lorenzo); two
sisters, April Enriquez of
Lyons, and Tuesday Cal-
istro (Salvador) of Lyons;
two brothers, Tommy Wil
liams (Susan) of Collins,
and Robert “Pop” Williams
of Lyons; three grandsons,
Lorenzo Williams-Tinoco
(Courtney), Juan Williams-
Tinoco (Skylar), and Lupe
Williams-Tinoco, all of
Tarrytown; a great-grand
daughter, Saige Williams of
Tarrytown; special family

eral nieces, nephews, and

Old Mount Zion Cemetery.

Annie Marie Huey, age
83, of Vidalia, GA, died on
May 3, 2021, at Meadows
Regional Medical Center
after an extended illness.
Ms. Huey was a native of
Decatur, GA. She retired
from Georgia Power after 34
years of service and was pre
ceded in death by her par
ents, Pleasant & Lois Huey;
beloved twin brother, Ma
son Huey; and her longtime
companion, Ed Rayfield.
She is survived by a
sister-in-law, Nancy Huey;
nephew, John (Angela)
Huey; niece, Nita (Jason)
McBride; and 6 great-neph
ews, Kyle, Josh and Matthew
Huey, Nicolas and Nathan
McBride, & Blake Butler.
Ms. Huey formerly be

she was an active member of
the choir and Sunday school
class. She most recendy be

she was a member of the
John Durst Sunday School
Class.

Mr. Donald DeBorde
Mr. Donald DeBorde,
age 79, of Port St. Lucie,
FL, died on April 3, 2021,
due to complications from
a stroke and COVID-19.
Mr. DeBorde was born
in Miami, FL, and graduat
ed from Miami Edison Se
nior High School in 1959,
and Georgetown Univer
sity in 1963. After gradu
ation, he primarily worked
in college administration
at several colleges in vari
ous capacities, including
admissions, fund raising,
development, and as vice-
president. He was active in
his church as a choir mem
ber and taught adult Sun
day school. He was preced
ed in death by his parents,
George and Jane DeBorde,
and his wife, Judith Ann
DeBorde.
Survivors include 1
daughter, Anita Stokes;
2 sons, James and John
DeBorde; and 1 brother,
George DeBorde, Jr.
A private viewing was
held on April 6, 2021, at
All-County Funeral Home
in Stuart, FL, and a private
memorial service was held
in Port St. Lucie. A grave
side service and interment
will follow on June 6, 2021,
at 2:00 p.m., at Lakeview
Memorial Gardens in Vi
dalia. The graveside service
is open to the public and
will be officiated by George
DeBorde, Jr.
Mrs. Judy Garrett
Mrs. Judy Barfield Mor
ris Garrett, age 70, of the
New Branch Community,
died on Monday, May 3,
2021, at Memorial Health
University Hospital in Sa
vannah after an extended ill
ness.
Mrs. Garrett was born
in Brunswick, and as a child
moved to Cedar Crossing,
where she lived most of her
life, and lived in New Branch
for the past 6 years. She at
tended Toombs Central
School, was a homemaker,
and was a member of the
Uvalda Church of God. She
was preceded in death by 2
husbands, Charles Morris
and Cecil Garrett; her par
ents, Fate Jonas “FJ” Barfield
and Loney Ellease Bailey
Barfield; and 3 siblings,
Ronald Barfield, Ureatha
Barfield, and LaRue Barfield
Deloach.
Survivors include 2
children, Christen Morris
Feurt of Lyons, and Mat
thew Morris of New Branch;
3 sisters, Becky Barfield
Carpenter and husband
Bobby of Hazlehurst, Marie
Barfield of Tyler, TX, and
Breesa Barfield of Hazle

be held on Wednesday, May
12, 2021, at 3:00 p.m., in the
Uvalda Church of God, with
Pastor Alvin Merritt and
Pastor Mike Smith officiat
ing. Burial will follow in the
Cedar Crossing Church of
God Cemetery.

Wednesday afternoon from
1:00 until just prior to the
service.

Mr. William Randall
Nobles, Sr., age 68, of Sop-
erton, died on Tuesday,
May 4, 2021, at Memorial
Hospital in Savannah.
Mr. Nobles was born
in Savannah and grew up
in Savannah and Vidalia,
where he graduated from
high school. He worked as
a meat cutter in Lyons for
many years and for Graham
Brothers Construction in
East Dublin from the early
1990s until he retired. He
was a member of Soperton
First Baptist Church. He
was preceded in death by
his parents, William Leon
ard and Annie Pearl Wil
liamson Nobles; his wife,
Reba Calhoun Nobles; and
1 brother, Tony Nobles.
Survivors include
1 son, William Randall

Branch, age 94, of Vidalia,
died on Tuesday, May 4,
2021, in The Oaks Bethany
in Vidalia after an extended
illness.
Mrs. Branch was a
native of the Long Pond
Community in Montgom
ery County and lived most
of her life in Vidalia. She
worked at United 5&10 in
Vidalia for 2 years, in Hazle
hurst as assistant manager
for 19 years, and at Hazle
hurst Nursing Home for 10
years. She was a member
of the First Baptist Church
of Hazlehurst. She was pre
ceded in death by her hus
band, John Robert Branch;
her parents, Joseph Otto
Milligan, Sr., and Ammie
Bell Garrett Milligan; and
7 siblings, Aubrey Milligan,
Sara Milligan Smith, Paul
Milligan, Joe Milligan, Ru
fus Milligan, Mayo Milligan,
and Frances Milligan Witt.
