Mrs. Dorothy Bell
Mrs. Dorothy Webb
Bell, age 76, of Soperton,
died on Saturday, May 29,
2021, at the Treutlen Coun
ty Health and Rehabilita
tion Center in Soperton.
Mrs. Bell was born in
Treutlen County, lived in
Columbus, and returned to
Treutlen County in 1985.
She previously worked as
a seamstress at the Soper
ton Shirt Factory for over
20 years, and she worked
at Walmart in Dublin until
retiring in July of 2006. She
was a member of Midway
Church. She was preceded
in death by her parents,
James Quinton Webb and
Eunice Mary Lizzie Brant
ley Webb; 3 siblings, Jea
nette Willis, Betty Westby
and Sybil Hall; 1 infant sis
ter; and 1 great-grandson,
Aleczavier D. Soto.
Survivors include her
husband of 51 years, David
Fred Bell, Sr., Soperton; 4
children, Teresa L. “Lynn”
Rosario (Felipe), Dub
lin, Kevin Bell (Tammy),
Soperton, David F. Bell, Jr.
(Liesl), Pell City, AL, and
Kristy D. Bell, Soperton; 2
siblings, Totsy Enlow, East
man, and Charles Webb
(Sula), Soperton; 6 grand
children, James D. Rosario,
Daniella R. Rosario, Josh
K. H. Bell, Nathan McCoy,
Tristan McCoy and Hanlon
Finney; 12 great-grandchil
dren; and several nieces and
nephews.
Funeral services were
conducted on Wednesday,
June 2, 2021, at 11:00 a.m.,
in the Williams Chapel of
Sammons Funeral Home,
with Rev. Larry W. Sauls
officiating. Interment fol
lowed in Midway Cemetery.

Mr. Jody Wilkes
Mr. Jody E. Wilkes, age
41, of Ailey, died on Sunday,
May 30, 2021.
Mr. Wilkes was born
in Vidalia, grew up in Ailey,
and was a lifelong resident
of Montgomery County.
He was a 1998 graduate of
Montgomery County High
School in Mt. Vernon. He
worked with the Depart
ment of Corrections with
his father before beginning
a long career in sales. He
had worked as a salesman
at Woody Folsom in Baxley,
YES Home Center and
Taner Homes in Baxley and
Vidalia before joining Paul
Thigpen Chevrolet, where
he was still working. He
worked for many years as
a Disc Jockey. For the past
10 years, he had been part
ner at NAC4 Productions.
He was a member of Cedar
Crossing Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death
by his father, William Larry
Wilkes, and 1 brother, Jus
tin Andrew Wilkes.
Survivors include his
mother, Jan Hinton Wil
kes, Ailey; 1 brother, Larry
Aaron “Bo” Wilkes (Ann),
Ailey; 2 nephews, Luke and
Logan Wilkes; 2 nieces,
Emily Woods and Laci Wil
kes; 1 great-nephew, Drew
Wilkes; and many extended
family and friends.
A graveside funeral
service was conducted on
Thursday, June 3, 2021, at
3:00 p.m., in Walker Cem
etery in Mt. Vernon, with
Pastor Reece Mincey offici
ating.

rison, age 65, died on
Monday, May 31, 2021, at
Meadows Health Hospital
in Vidalia.
Mr. Harrison was born
in Dublin. He was em
ployed for Mohawk Carpet
Company. He was preced
ed in death by his father,
Ovid Harrison, and his
grandparents, Talmadge
and Georgia Dell Harrison.
Survivors include his
wife, Penny Harrison; his
mother, Agnes Harrison;
2 sons, Michael Harrison,
and Shane (April) Hairr; 2
daughters, Terri Lee (Dan
iel) Lathan, and Delaine
(Todd) Evans; 3 brothers,

Mr. Chester Hanberry
Chester Alexander
Hanberry, 91, died peace
fully Friday May 28, 2021,
at Hospice Savannah, sur
rounded by his loving fam-
ily.
Chester, son of Chester
and Lucia Hanberry, grew
up in Savannah, Georgia,
attending Savannah High
School. He continued his
education at the Univer
sity of Georgia, where he
graduated from the School
of Pharmacy.
He met Bobbie Ann
Smith while completing his
residency in North Augus
ta, South Carolina. They
began their married life in
Savannah, Georgia, and
then moved to Statesboro,
Georgia, to open Medi
cal Center Pharmacy and
raise their family. Chester
enjoyed woodworking,
quail hunting, golf at For
est Heights Country Club,
and all of his great neigh
bors on Wendwood Drive.
He and Bobbie were one of
the original founding fami
lies of Bulloch Academy in
1971. They enjoyed watch
ing Alex and Bob compete
in football, basketball, and
golf. The Hanberry family
were members of Pittman
Park United Methodist
Church.
Following the loss of
Bobbie Ann in 1990 at the
age of 59, Chester managed
the pharmacy at Reidsville
State Prison. He met Betty
Ann Hightower and they
married in 1995 and had
25 plus wonderful years of
marriage, living in Vidalia,
Georgia. Chester cher
ished Betty’s extended fam
ily and the time they spent
at frequent family gather
ings. The family wishes to
acknowledge, with grateful
hearts, the love and care
shown during declining
health through this jour
ney.
He is survived by his
wife, Betty Hanberry; his
son, Robert Lane Hanber
ry, Sr. (Vanne); his grand
sons, Robert Lane Hanber
ry, Jr. (Megan), Benjamin
Seth Hanberry; and his
great-granddaughter, Ade
line Elizabeth Hanberry,
whom he adored.
He was preceded in
death by his first wife, Bob
bie Ann Hanberry; his son,
Chester Alexander Han
berry, Jr.; and an infant
daughter.

Mr. Kendall McBride
Mr. Kendall “K-Dawg”
McBride, age 60, of the
Bear Creek Community of
Mt. Vernon, died on Satur
day, June 5, 2021.
Mr. McBride was a life
long resident of Mt. Vernon
and was a 1978 graduate of
Montgomery County High
School. He worked as an
over the road commercial
truck driver for over 20
years based in Glenwood.
He was known on the CB
airwaves as “Snakeman.” In
the mid 1990s he founded
M&M Electrical in Mt.
Vernon, which he contin
ued to operate until retire
ment.

TN, and Devin McBride,

Mr. Charles Thomas
Gray age 69, of Jackson
ville, FL, died on Saturday,
May 22, 2021, at his home
with his wife and family by
his side.
Mr. Gray was born in
Lyons. He proudly served
an extensive career with
the United States Navy as
an underwa
ter welder
and contin
ued his work
in that field
after his de
parture from the military.
He was stationed in Scot
land for 10 years and was
last stationed at Mayport
Base in Jacksonville before
retiring. He later had stints
at the Jacksonville Ship
yards, as well as with Atlan
tic Marine. He was preced
ed in death by his parents,
George Thomas “GT” and
Betty Sue Groover Gray;
and 1 brother, Daniel Gray.
Survivors include his
wife of 30 years, Vickie
Gray of Jacksonville; 3

brief battle with cancer.

Crider Chicken, and sev
eral convenience stores. He
was preceded in death by
his father, Charles Kenneth
Edward, Sr.; 1 sister, Don

after an extended illness.
Mr. Dees was a na

County most of his life.

School and was a graduate

Baptist by faith. He was
