Cray, Serena Samba (mother), Stephanie Wardlaw (family Friend); (Back): Missy Owens
(VFIS Assitant Cheer Coach).
McCray Signs With BPC
Last Monday at Vida-
lia High School Diamond
McCray signed her letter
of intent for a scholarship
to cheer for the Lady Bar
ons at Brewton-Parker
College. McCray was a
VHS Spirit Cheerleader,
ran track and played bas
ketball for the Lady Indi
ans.
“I want to thank my
coaches and family for
pushing me to receive this
scholarship. BPC is close
to home. I like the campus
and I have seen the way
they treat everybody with
respect. I am looking for
ward to studying Animal
Science and maybe major
in Biology. I am going to
start off studying Pre-
Nursing." McCray said.
BPC Cheer Coach
Keri Nester stated, “Dia
mond seems to have the
drive to want to cheer and
she is an incredible jumper
and has the dedication to
learn how to cheer and be a
part of the team and we are
excited to have her be part
of the family.”
“I am very proud of
Diamond and of all of the
hard work she has put in.
She has earned this oppor
tunity. I have heard noth
ing but good things about
Brewton-Parker and have
had family and friends that
have attended. I think this
is the right fit for her these
next two years before she
moves on in her educa
tion.” Serena Samba said.

at Sandwich in 1981, his
agent was the legendary
Mark McCormack, who
had him literally playing
all over the world. Rogers
made many stops in lands
which were part of the old
British Empire. “They felt
like the Open champion
ship was theirs, and I was
overwhelmed everywhere
I went. It was a wonderful
experience,” Rogers said.
As the sun was setting
late Sunday, the hierarchy
of the Royal & Ancient
Golf Club, which runs
the championship, more
than likely were enjoying
a single malt and planning
for next year’s tournament
when the championship
returns to St. Andrews and
the Old Course.
That will be the 150th
Open championship,
which will, assuming no
COVID complications,
make it a milestone event.
Rooms will be impossible
to come by and a record
attendance will likely
come about.
The “Auld Grey Toon”
that is St. Andrews will
resonate with the inter
national community. The
town will be overrun with
shoppers, tourists and golf
aficionados. Rooms al
ready have been sold out
for some time. And at in
flated rates. You can find
dinner reservations next
to the needle in the hay
stack.
The Open cham
pionship is always a fa
vored event throughout
the United Kingdom, but
when it returns to St. An
drews, its widespread ap
peal is stratospheric.
Truett Signs With Andrew College - Montgomery County High School's Darrin Truett
signed his letter of intent last week to play baseball at the collegiate level. Truett will
be heading to Andrew College in Cuthbert, GA. (L to R): Doug Truett (father), Melody
