Robert Toombs Chris
tian Academy’s football
team was at the Jaguars of
Thomas Jefferson Acad
emy in Louisville last Fri
day night to take on the
defending single A State
Champions. It was a tough
game for RTCA, but they
did manage to put two
touchdowns on the board,
but lost the contest 49-13.
RTCA had the ball to
start the game, and on the
first play from scrimmage
the snap went over quar
terback TJ Stanley’s head,
and was recovered by Jag
uars in the end zone for a
touchdown. They added
the two-point conversion
to take an 8-0 lead.
RTCA turned the ball
over on downs on their
next possession at the
RTCA 21-yard line. In two
plays the Jaguars were in
the end zone again for their
second touchdown of the
game. With the extra point
they took a 15-0 lead.
RTCA punted the ball
on their next possession,
and the kick was partially
blocked with Thomas Jef
ferson taking over at the
RTCA 40-yard line.
Thomas Jefferson scored
on an 18-yard run and
added the extra point for a
22-0 lead.
On the ensuing kickoff
Jashaun Powell had a nice
40-yard return across mid-
field to the Jaguars 45-yard
line. But RTCA couldn’t
get anything going and
turned the ball over on
downs at the 40-yard line.
The Jaguars made it
29-0 before the end of the
first quarter of the game.
Powell did have a nice
gain on the next drive, and
then a pass from Stanley to
Hayden Right put RTCA
down to the Jaguar 20-yard
line. RTCA moved the ball
inside the 10 and had it 1 st
and-goal, but were stopped
by the Jaguar defense, and
turned the ball over on
downs at the 7-yard line.
On the first play
Thomas Jefferson broke
free and went 93 yards for a
touchdown. That made it
36-0. Thomas Jefferson
