The Bulldogs of
Wheeler County High
School are currently
ranked 25th in the state
in Class A Public, and last
week they hosted the #7
ranked Irish of Dublin.
The Bulldogs gave them a
good game but came up
just one score short.
Both teams found the
end zone once in the first
quarter of the game, the
difference was that Dub
lin made their extra point,
and Wheeler did not con
vert on the two-point
conversion. That made
the score at the end of the
first, 7-6, with Dublin out
in front.
In the second quarter
the Irish extended their
lead with a touchdown
and a field goal. The Bull
dogs of Wheeler also
found the end zone once
in the second quarter and
they added on the two-
point conversion. That
made the score going into
halftime, 17-14, with
Dublin just out in front.
Dublin added a score
in the third quarter of the
game to push the lead to
24-14. In the fourth each
team again found the end
zone one time. Dublin
missed their extra point
while Wheeler converted
the two-point try. That
made the final score of
the game 30-22, with
Dublin taking the win
over Wheeler.
Wheeler is continu
ing to improve and it
showed against a very
tough Irish squad.
Wheeler is now 2-1 on
the season. This week
they will travel to face the
Bobcats of Dooly County
on Friday night at 7:30
p.m.

The Treutlen High
School Vikings football
team hosted the Panthers
of Portal on Friday of last
week and picked up their
first win of the season.
Treutlen got the scor
ing started in the first
quarter of the game when
Q_amar Jordan capped off
a drive with a 4-yard
touchdown run. The ex
tra point was blocked, but
that gave the Vikings a
6-0 lead over Portal with
just over two minutes left
in the quarter.
In the second quarter
the Panthers put their
first points on the board.
A Treutlen turnover led
to the touchdown with
five minutes left in the
first half. They added the
two-point conversion to
take an 8-6 lead over Tru-
etlen.
Neither team scored
over the remainder of the
first half or in the third
quarter of the game. But
in the fourth quarter the
Vikings got to work. They
added the first touch
down on a run by quar
terback Jordan Coney
from two yards out. That
put Treutlen on top 12-8.
The final score of the
game came with a bit of
luck. Coney was running
toward the end zone
when he had the ball
stripped away. It went
into the end zone where
it was recovered by Kolby
McLendon for the Vi
kings touchdown. That
made the final score of
the game 18-8.
The Vikings are now
1-2 on the season. This
week they will be in
Wrightsville to take on
Johnson County with
kickoff at 7:30 p.m.

The Treutlen High
School Lady Vikings soft-
ball team played just one
game last week as they
lost to the Red Devils of
Hawkinsville on the road
on Tuesday.
Treutlen got on the
board first with a run in
the top of the first inning,
but the Devils put four
on the board in the bot
tom of the frame to jump
ahead, 4-1. Hawkinsville
added six more in the sec
ond inning as they took
control, 10-1.
The Vikings scored
one in the fourth and one
in the fifth, but that was
all they could get, with
Hawkinsville adding one
more in the sixth inning
to take the game by the
run rule, 11-3.
Jakayla Jordan led the
Vikings with three hits on
the day.
This week Treutlen
hosted Dublin on Mon
day, and was at Wheeler
County on Tuesday after
presstime. They will be at
