Off Tournament. The
tournament began on Sat
urday and will wrap up on
Tuesday of this week.
The Vidalia girls and boys
took on Jenkins County
on Saturday with both the
girls and boys getting
wins.
Girls vs. Jenkins
The Vidalia girls
opened the game up on a
7-0 run. They led the
game 10-3 by the end of
the first quarter. In the
second Jenkins found a
bit of rhythm as they out-
scored the Indians 11-2.
That gave Jenkins a 14-12
lead at the half over VHS.
In the third VHS tied
the game and then took
the lead. VHS led 20-19
heading to the fourth
quarter.
Both teams managed
just seven points each in
the fourth. VHS was trail
ing when Dakota Jinks
got a basket on a inbound
to give the Indians a 24-
23 lead with just 2:50 to
go. It was 26-23 after a
basket by Kaliya Walker
with 1:20 left to play.
Jenkins tied the game
at 1:02 at 26-26, but with
25 seconds to play, Walker
hit a free throw to give
the Indians a 27-26 lead.
They held on and took
the win by that score.
VHS was led by Cori-
anna Warner with 10
points, and Hannah Nich
ols added 7 in the win.
Boys vs. Jenkins
Jenkins got on the
board first with a tip in,
but Ty Dailey tied the
game at 2-2 with a drive
into the lane with just
over six minutes to go in
the first quarter as both
teams got off to a slow
start.
VHS took the lead on
a basket and free throw by
Dailey to lead 5-4 later in
the first and then he hit a
three-pointer to lead 8-4
with 4:40 left in the first.
Baskets by Jordan Powell
and Jacobi Washington
gave VHS a 12-6 lead.
And by the end of the
first period the score was
19-9.
The VHS defense was
up to the task as in the
first quarter they forced
two shot-clock iolations,
and a 10 second, back
court call, on Jenkins.
In the second quarter
the Indians had pushed
the lead to 25-13, and
then led 30-15 as they
were pulling away from
the War Eagles. It was 33-
17 after a three-pointer
by Konner Owens.
In the third quarter a
fast-break basket by Ow
ens made it 42-21. In the
fourth Jenkins had closed
the lead to 59-47, but the
Indians held on to win
the game 67-47.
Both VHS teams took
on West Laurens on Tues
day night to wrap up the
