Mrs. Lucy Watson
Mrs. Lucille “Lucy”
Braddy Watson, age 98, of
Mt. Vernon, died on Mon
day, November 15, 2021, at
the Community Hospice
House in Vidalia after an
extended illness.
Mrs. Watson was a life
long resident of Montgom
ery County. She retired
from Woolrich as a super
visor and was a member of
the First Baptist Church of
Mt. Vernon and the Fidelis
Sunday School Class. She
was preceded in death by
2 husbands, Thomas Wal
ter “Tom” Watson and Jim
Orr; her parents, Willie
Braddy and Lucille Walker
Braddy; 1 son, Harold Wat
son; and siblings, Emma
Lee Hall, Edward Braddy,
H.C. Braddy, Hyman Brad
dy, Wyman Braddy, James
Braddy, Jeanette Braddy,
H.T. Braddy, Aubrey Brad
dy, and Peggy McCall.
Her family includes 1
son, Marvin Watson and
wife Betty, and 1 grandson,
Stacy Watson, all of Mt.
Vernon; 2 sisters-in-law,
Janet Braddy of the Kib-
bee Community, and Joyce
Braddy of Jacksonville, FL;
and numerous nieces and
nephews.
The funeral service was
held on Thursday, Novem
ber 18, 2021, at 3:00 p.m.,
in the chapel of Ronald V.
Hall Funeral Home, with
Pastor Karl Hay officiat
ing. Burial followed in the
Braddy Cemetery.

Watson, Jon Braddy, Todd
Palmer, Ken Braddy, Jr., Jai-
mey Braddy, Mike Braddy,

Mrs. Mary Brantley
Mrs. Mary Frances
Brantley, age 82, of Lyons,
died on Sunday, November
14, 2021, at her home after
an extended illness.
Mrs. Brantley was a
native of Decatur, AL, and
lived in Toombs County
since the mid 1960s. She
was a homemaker and had
worked as a sewing machine
operator at Lyons Manu
facturing. She was a mem
ber of East Gordon Street
Baptist Church and was a
former member of Cobb
Creek Baptist Church. She
was preceded in death by
her husband, Herbert D.
Brantley; her parents, Ver-
bon Davis and Gertrude
Collins Davis; an aunt who
raised her, Olemae Segars;
and several siblings.
Her family includes 4
children, Debra Cotney of
Palestine, TX, Randy Blan
kenship and Mary Rewis of
Cobbtown, Darlene Brant
ley and Donald D. Brantley,
both of Lyons; 3 grandchil
dren, Tisha Cotney of Pal
estine, TX, Kenny Mackin-
non and Misty Quinn, both
of Baxley; 8 great-grand
children; and numerous
nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held
on Thursday, November
18, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., in
the chapel of Ronald V. Hall
Funeral Home, with Pastor
Bruce Conner and Pastor
Rusty Wooten officiating.
Burial followed at the Cobb
Creek Baptist Church Cem
etery.

Mr. William Walter
“Bill” Wilcher, age 80, of
Lyons, died on Saturday,
November 20, 2021, at Me
morial Health Meadows
Hospital in Vidalia after an
extended illness.
Mr. Wilcher was born
and raised in Swainsboro
and lived in Toombs Coun-
tyformost ofhis life. He was
an automotive mechanic
most of his life, working as
a mechanic at several busi
nesses, including Precision
Tunes in Augusta. He was a
member of New Beginning
Church of God in Lyons.
He was preceded in death
by 1 daughter, Gail Bar-
wick; his parents, William
and Dessie Wilcher; and 1
son-in-law, Gary Kirkland.
His family includes his
wife of 44 years, Lilly Col
lins Wilcher of Lyons; 5
children, Steve Kersey and
wife Sandy of South Caro
lina, Rebecca Kirkland of
Alabama, Rachel Kirkland
and Joe Roberts of Reids-
ville, Andy Wilcher of Ly
ons, and Jennifer Kinsey
and husband Michael of
New York; 3 sisters, Susie
Mae Faircloth of the Nor
ristown Community, Betty
Mitchell of Emanuel Coun
ty, and Helen Lovett; 12
grandchildren; and several
great-grandchildren, nieces
and nephews.
The funeral service was
held on Tuesday, Novem
ber 23, 2021, at 11:00 a.m.,
in the chapel of Ronald V.
Hall Funeral Home, with
Pastor Mike Smith officiat
ing. Burial followed in the
Lyons City Cemetery.

Mr. Joseph Manning
Mr. Joseph Van Man
ning, age 79, of the Rose-
mont Community of Sop-
erton, died on Tuesday,
November 16, 2021, at
Community Hospice in Vi
dalia.
Mr. Manning was born
in Dublin and was a lifelong
resident of Treutlen County.
He attended the Rosemont
School. He worked for Knox
Lumber Company and lat
er worked for the State of
Georgia on the Bridge and
Culvert Crew. He worked
for D.A. Stuckey in Dublin
before joining the IBEW
Local 474 and working at
Plant Vogtle at the Savannah
River Site as an Operating
Engineer. He retired from
Plant Vogtle in 1989 and
joined the Laurens County
Road Works Department
and retired in 2006. He was
preceded in death by his par
ents, William “Did” Man
ning and Lavada Crumley
Manning; 2 infant sisters,
Eugenia Manning and Mar
garet Manning; 1 sister, Eliz
abeth Batts; and 1 brother,
Duron Manning.
Survivors include his
wife of 58 years, Glenda Sue
Bridges Manning, Soperton;
2 sons, Mickey Manning and
Wesley Manning (Melissa),
both of Soperton; 1 sister,
Joanne Powell, Macon; 1
brother, Olen Manning,
Soperton; 1 special grand
daughter, Mikayla Manning;
and several nieces and neph
ews.
A graveside funeral ser
vice was conducted on Fri
day, November 19, 2021, at
11:00 a.m., in the Van Man
ning Family Cemetery, with
Gary Walden officiating.

Mr. Donald “Don”
Woods, age 74, of Jefferson,
died on Sunday, November
14, 2021, at Emory St. Jo
seph’s Hospital in Atlanta.
Mr. Woods was born
in Dublin, grew up in the
Rockledge Community,
and attended W _
school in Lau-
rens County.
He earned an \
Associates '
degree from
Abraham Baldwin (ABAC)
in Tifton. He served in the
United States Army through
the Vietnam Conflict. He
was a graduate of the Uni
versity of Georgia in Athens
with a degree in Business
Finance. He worked for the
U.S. Government’s Home
Finance Program until he
joined Gold Kist in the
early 1970s. Don worked in
the Credit Department and
became President of Agri-
Trade Finances during his
35-year career with Gold
Kist before retiring in 1999.
He coached his boys in
soccer, baseball, basketball
and tennis and coached his
oldest grandson in soccer.
In his youth he attended
Rockledge United Method
ist Church. He was preced
ed in death by his parents,
Leroy and Zelma Brantley
Woods, and 1 granddaugh
ter, Caroline Grace Woods.
Survivors include his
wife of 46 years, Hilda
Walker Woods; 2 sons,
Jason Woods (Carolyn
Woods) of Jefferson, and
Joshua Woods (Allison
Woods) of Cumming; 1
sister, Faye W. Thigpen of
Rockledge; 1 brother, Wen
dell Woods (Peggy Woods)

born in Sault Ste. Marie,
MI. He worked as a snow
plow operator for Chip
pewa County until retir
ing in the early 1990s.
He lived in Florida for a
short time before settling
in Soperton in the late
1990s. He was preceded
in death by his parents,
Charles and Ann Payment
Cartwright; and 1 son,
Gerald Cartwright.
Survivors include
his longtime companion,
Joyce Thigpen, Soperton;
1 son, Keith Cartwright,
Jefferson, TX; siblings,
Bobby Cartwright, Har
old Cartwright and Kitty
Cartwright; 5 grandchil
dren; 3 great-grandchil
dren; and several nieces
and nephews.
