Ms. Suzie Fowler
Susan “Suzie” Mobley
Fowler, age 47, of Vidalia,
died Sunday, November
21, 2021, at Doctors Hos
pital in Augusta after a
long battle with Covid-19.
She was a native of Sar
dis, Georgia, moving to
Toombs County in 1984.
She was a 1992 graduate
of Vidalia Comprehensive
High School, and attended
Brewton-Parker College in
Mt. Vernon and East Geor
gia College in Swainsboro
for her pre-nursing degree.
She subsequently earned
her Licensed Practical
Nurse degree from South
eastern Technical College
in Vidalia. Suzie worked
at Lovins Realty before
starting her nursing career
at Georgia Home Health
care & Hospice (GHHH)
in 2009. When GHHH
transitioned to Amacita
Home Health in 2010,
Suzie continued her work
serving her homebound
patients in Vidalia and the
surrounding communities.
She eventually found her
hospice home in the fam
ily atmosphere of Commu
nity Hospice in Vidalia. It
was here that she worked
from October 2013 until
June 2018, providing un
wavering support to termi
nally ill patients and their
families and caregivers.
She loved every moment
of her hospice career! She
had a servant’s heart and
there was no purer love
than that which she gave to
her patients as they faced
their personal end-of-life
journeys. In June of 2018,
Suzie accepted a posi
tion as the school nurse at
Montgomery County El
ementary School in Mount
Vernon, Georgia. Becom
ing a school nurse gave her
the chance to spend more
time with her son, Lige
Fowler, making memories
and enjoying summers
with the little boy she loved
more than anything on this
earth. She recognized that
her precious son was grow
ing up much too quickly,
and she did not want to
miss a single minute of his
journey. Suzie thrived as a
school nurse. She adored
the children she served
and the families she met
along the way. She referred
to the MCES and MCMS
students often, and would
share with the world, “My
school babies keep me on
my toes.” We all know, of
course, that it was probably
quite the opposite, with
Suzie keeping everyone
she knew on THEIR toes.
What we would give to
have just one more “on our
toes” moment with Suzie,
listening to her quick wit,
her infectious laughter, and
being entertained by her
hysterical antics. Though
Suzie loved her school
work, she nonetheless re
mained an active member
of the Community Hos
pice team as a PRN nurse
on nights and weekends.
She viewed her patients as
family and leaving them
completely was never an
option for her. Suzie at
tended the Uvalda Church
of God and Connection
Church in Vidalia. She en
joyed crafts, plants, and go
ing to the coast and river.
She was preceded in death
by her parents, Wanda Sue
Oglesby Mobley and Jim
my Lee Mobley.
Her family includes
her son, Lige Fowler of Vi
dalia; her former husband,
Nathan Fowler of the Long
Pond Community; her
brother, Kevin J. Mobley
and wife Karen, her niece
and nephew, Madison
Mobley and Heath Mob
ley, all of Statesboro; and
aunts and uncles - Debbie
Johnson of Augusta, Glo
ria Connor and husband
Donald of Sylvania, Dale
Oglesby and wife Sally of
Girard, Cindy Widener of
Hephzibah, and Kathryn
Mobley Chandler.
During Suzie’s illness,
many provided care and
kindness along the way,
especially three who spent
countless hours by her side
advocating for her medical
care and for Lige’s well-be
ing, Julie Spivey, Michelle
Coleman, and her “Crazy
Aunt Debbie.”
“Shoo, O how we miss
you already! We are all so
much better for having had
you in our lives! We look
forward to the day when
we see you again!”
The funeral service
was Wednesday, Novem
ber 24, at 11:00 a.m. in the
chapel of Ronald V. Hall
Funeral Home with Pastor
Sherry Damron officiating.
Burial followed in Mt. Ver
non Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Con
ner Colbert, Noah Boyett,
Evan Stephens, J.J. Brad-
dy, Cole Williamson, and
Hunter Smith.
Honorary pallbearers
were the staff of Commu
nity Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, me
morial contributions may
be made to the Commu
nity Hospice Foundation,
P.O. Box 2277, Vidalia, GA
