Rad Tech Program Graduates
Nine in STC Class of 2021
Nine students gradu
ated from the Radiologic
Technology program on
Thursday December 2, at
Southeastern Technical
College’s (STC) pinning
ceremony in Vidalia.

Jennifer Sabillon of Hazle-
hurst, Maegan McCum
bers of Oak Park, Stormy
Messex of Swainsboro, Co
rissa Vaughn of Baxley, and
Katrina Walker of Uvalda
graduated from STC with
an Associate of Applied
Science Degree in Radio-
logic Technology, complet
ing a program that took two
years on- and off-campus.
“These graduates have
persevered without com
plaints and have done a
great job. They have com
pleted 54 programmatic
credit hours of academic
instruction and over 900
hours of clinical educa
tion time,” said Radiologic
Technology Program Di
rector Tara Powell. “Ad
ditionally, they have com
pleted clinical competency
exams and performed and
participated in about one-
quarter of the total exams
performed at each of our
clinical education sites.”
The guest speaker for
the event was Kristie Eudy,
salutatorian of the first Ra
diologic Technology class
of STC. She is currently the
diagnostic imaging director
at Jeff Davis Hospital.
“You’re entering one of
the most rewarding careers
in the medical field, with
countless opportunities for
learning and advancement,”
said Ms. Eudy. “I have had
the privilege to teach, men
tor, work with, and hire
many students who have
come from this college.
Of all my experiences, this
class has really touched
me. They have shown in
tegrity and tenacity while
conducting themselves in a
professional manner far be
yond their training.”
The students paid back
part of their education by
giving awards to several de
partments and employees

as RTCA's Daughters of
the American Revolution
Good Citizen. The DAR
Good Citizens program rec
ognizes outstanding young
people who exhibit the
qualities of good citizenship
in their homes, schools, and
communities.
The DAR Good Citi
zens are selected based on
students who display the
following characteristics:
Dependability, Service,
with whom they studied
before receiving awards of
their own.
The award for Most
Outstanding Student
Technologist, voted on
by the program’s clinical
education affiliates, went
to Stormy Messex. The
Academic Achievement
Award of Excellence went
to Katrina Walker, who had
the highest GPA in the pro
gram.

A Taste of Christmas with the
Marbled Peppermint Pound Cake
Azure

Fun, Delicious
and Festive
I n the season of giving,
making those around
you feel special this time
of year warms the heart
and soul. This Christmas,
give those you care about
a taste of the season with
the Marbled Peppermint
Pound Cake. With moist
beautiful layers of marbled
red and yellow cake that
has a hint of peppermint
and then topped with a
delicious glaze garnished
with crushed peppermints,
this treat is most definitely
the ultimate gift to give this
Holiday season.
Marbled Peppermint Pound Cake
3 cups Cake Flour
!4 teaspoon Baking Soda
3 sticks Land of Lakes Unsalted
Butter (room temp)
3 cups Sugar
6 large Eggs
1 cup Sour Cream
1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
VL teaspoon Peppermint Extract
2 Tablespoons Red Food
Coloring
Vegetable Shortening (for
greasing)
Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
Grease and flour a bundt pan,
then set aside. Combine the
cake flour and baking soda,
then sift into a mixing bowl
and set aside. In a large mix
ing bowl and with an electric
mixer, beat butter while add
ing the sugar. Beat in the eggs
and then sour cream. Beat in
the vanilla and peppermint
extracts. Transfer half of the
batter to another bowl and
add the red food coloring and
stir until combined. Add half of
the yellow batter to the bundt
pan and spread, then add half
of the red batter and spread.
Repeat with remaining batter.
Bake on the 3rd (middle) rack
for around 1 hour and 40 to 45
minutes or until a cake tester or
fork comes out clean. Remove
from the oven and let cool for
25 minutes, then turn over onto
a cake plate. Let cool com
pletely, then make the glaze.
Glaze:
1 Vz cups Powdered Sugar
2 Vi Tablespoons Milk
Crushed Peppermints (for
garnish)
Combine the powdered sugar
and milk until creamy. Drizzle
glaze over the cooled cake.
Top with crushed peppermints.
