RTCA Gets Win In Florida Wheeler Picks Up A Win

saders football team made
the long road trip to Mon-
ticello, Florida, and picked
up their first win of the
season Friday night over
the Aucilla Christian Acad
emy Warriors 36-21.
The Warriors got on
the scoreboard first after a
Crusaders fumble on their
first offensive possession
of the game. The Warriors
threw a touchdown pass at
the 8:25 mark from the 22-
yard line. The extra point
was good for a 7-0 lead.
RTCA answered with
a long 44-yard touchdown
run by Jashaun Powell.
The 2-point conversion
was good for an 8-7 Cru
saders lead with 6:59 left in
the first period.
The Warriors took the
lead and scored on an 11-
yard run with 1:53 remain
ing in the first quarter. The
2-point try was no good,
but Aucilla was on top 13-
8.
With just under 10
seconds left in the second
period Hayden Right in
tercepted a Warriors' pass
and took it into the end
zone. The Justin Bowers
PAT was good, giving the
Crusaders a 15-13 lead.
In the third quarter the
Crusaders added to their
lead when Right scored his
second touchdown of the
night, this time on a 60-
yard pick-six. Bowers
kicked the PAT for a 22-13
lead with 2:45 left in the
third.
With 9:55 remaining
in the game quarterback
T.J. Stanley hit Andrew
Tuck from 21-yards out to
extend the lead further.
The extra point from Bow
ers was good, putting the
Crusaders on top 29-13.
The Warriors scored
after a long drive on a
3-yard run. The 2-point
conversion was good to cut
the RTCA lead to 29-21.
The Crusaders got on
the scoreboard for the final
time when running back
Justin Powell took the ball
into the end zone from
20-yards out with just 2:27
left in the game. The PAT
was good to make the final
score 36-21 RTCA.
RTCA is on the road
this Thursday night to face
the Portal Panthers with
kickoff set for 7:30 p.m.

The Wheeler County
High School Bulldog
softball team picked up a
win over Montgomery
County on Tuesday of
last week, but fell to the
Red Devils of Hawkins-
ville on Thursday on the
road.
vs. MCHS
Wheeler got the scor
ing started in the top of
the first inning as they
picked up two runs.
MCHS answered with
one run in the bottom of
the first inning to close
the lead to 2-1.
Wheeler added one
run in each of the third,
fourth, and fifth innings
as they extended their
lead to 5-1. Montgomery
plated two more runs in
the bottom of the sixth
inning to make it 5-3, but
that was all that the Ea
gles could score as they
Bulldogs got the 5-3 win.
Wheeler was led by
Anna Beth Ethredge with
2 RBI's while Celei Brown
added 1 RBI.
vs. Hawkinsville
This was a tough
game for the Bulldogs.
The Devils plated four
runs in the bottom of the
first inning to take the
early lead. They added
one more in the third in
ning and then two in the
fourth to push their lead
to 7-0. One more run in
the sixth inning gave
Hawkinsille an 8-0 win
over Wheeler.
This week the Bull
dogs were at Claxton on
Monday and at Trinity
Christian on Tuesday af
ter presstime. They will
be back in action on
Thursday when they host
the Vikings of Treutlen
County.

VHS Runs In Clash Of Classes

The Vidalia High
School Cross Country
teams traveled to Bleck
ley County over the
weekend, competing in
the Clash of the Classes.
The meet consists of a
2-mile race for each grade
level, and the Indian boys
and girls team turned in a
combined second-place
finish.
Georgia Meredith led
the way for the Lady Indi
ans, eclipsing her per
sonal best by two minutes
from two years ago on the
same course, and came
up with a big win in her
race. "She is an amazingly
strong runner," said VHS
Head Coach Mandy God-
bee. "Every time she en
ters a race, we have no
idea just how fast she will
run, but one thing is al
ways certain, she is going
to run well!"
On the boys' side,
Andrew Hodge contin
ued his good work from
last year, turning in a 1st
place finish in his divi
sion, while senior Seth
MacGregor finished 2nd
despite turning in the
fastest time of the day for
the Indians. "Seth and
Andrew are doing an
amazing job leading the
team and setting high
standards for their team
mates," commented God-
bee.
For the 12th grade
boys, Seth MacGregor
was 2nd and Hunter
Loosberg was 5th. In
11th grade boys Andrew
Hodges finished 1st. 10th
Grade girls Georgia Mer
edith took 1st and Aleah
Ajohda was 5th. In 10th
grade boys Chamlee Ev
ans finished 3rd, Jude
Owen was 4th, and
Abrien Anthony was 5th.
And for 9th grade boys
Cash Driggers came in
4th.
Both teams will be off
until September 10, when
they travel to Carrollton
to run in the Carrollton
Orthopedic Invitational.

City of Vidalia Bid Notice
RFP for Golf Course Consultant
(RFP: 2022-002)
The City of Vidalia is seeking to construct a new eighteen (18) hole golf course that will be owned
by the City of Vidalia and overseen and operated by an authority of appointed individuals by the
Mayor and City Council of Vidalia. The city realizes the importance of golf as a recreation
opportunity for patrons of all ages along with the significance of golf in high school sports. The City
of Vidalia is seeking a Golf Course Architect to design and build an eighteen (18) hole municipal golf
course on its property to include all eighteen (18) holes, a practice range, a putting green, a
cart/equipment shelter, and a pro shop. The golf course will be designed to include irrigation that
will be supplied by the city's water system. An eight (8) inch line will be utilized to supply a water
source to where the water will be pumped out and irrigated throughout the course. The Golf
Course Architect will also coordinate with the Authority regarding the construction of cart bridges
that will be required to cross streams to accommodate safe play and movement of golfers.
Golf course design work will include cruising/harvesting of timber, all fine grading and soil
amendments (rough grading is occurring prior to final design), new irrigation, water features,
landscape design, bunkers, course seeding, and landscape work.
