Eagle Expo a Huge By Makaylee Randolph Staff Writer mrandolphadvance@gmail.com Montgomery County Schools informed 250 peo ple of Title I information and local resources at the first Eagle Expo on Tues day August 30. According to Super intendent Stan Rentz, the school system administra tors decided they wanted to have a unique experi ence when holding the re quired Title I information session. The group decided that an expo-like fair of resources, clubs, and com munity partners would provide parents with not only the required informa tion on the Title I financial assistance resources, but also knowledge on what health resources, educa tional resources, school clubs, extracurricular activ ities, businesses, and more is available within the com munity. The event featured a free meal, childcare, an in formational session, door prizes, and an hour-long browse through the 36 expo booths, which rep resented the three schools Success and community services and resources. Assistant Superin tendent Beverly Faircloth commented on the event. “A great deal of planning went into the evening, and the turnout and the feed back we heard throughout the night are proof that this event was helpful and enjoyable! Vidalia Fire Chief Brian Sikes said fhis type of blaze is a common occurrence with wrecks, and that the fire was extinguished quickly and no parties were injured, to his knowledge. RTCA RAISES MONEY FOR GHANA — Robert Toombs Christian Academy's Leo Club, Beta Club, and National Honor Society held a fundraiser on August 22 and 23 for Ashley Murphy, a missionary to Ghana. Teachers and students baked goodies to raise money for Murphy's travel expenses, She is part of Rohiya Foundation, an organization seeking to build an orphanage and school in the city of Accra. She has received donations of items to carry back with her next week. However, every extra bag that she carries costs her an extra $200. RTCA's goal was to raise $200 to help with the expense of one bag; however, the students raised over $600. Thank you to those who donated by bak ing goodies and those who donated financially.
