Mrs. Betty Shuman
Mrs. Betty J. Fountain
Shuman, age 83, ofVidalia,
died on Wednesday, August
31, 2022, at her home after
an extended illness.
Mrs. Shuman was a na
tive of Montgomery Coun
ty, a 1957 graduate ofVida
lia High School and lived in
Vidalia most of her life. She
worked at Shuman Saveway,
Piggly Wiggly, and she and
her late husband were own
ers of Betty and Shad’s Pick
Quick in Vidalia. She was
a member of First Baptist
Church ofVidalia and the
Winsome Sunday School
Class. She was preceded
in death by her husband,
Shadrach Dyess Shuman;
1 daughter, Pam Shuman
Home; her parents, W.T.
Fountain and Hassie Mixon
Fountain; and 3 brothers,
Joe Fountain, Bobby Foun
tain, and William Fountain.
Her family includes 3
children, Randy Shuman
and wife Lisa of Union

ber 3, 2022, at 11:00 a.m.,
at Pinecrest Cemetery, with
R. Don Moye officiating.

Ms. Dawn Lee
Ms. Dawn O’Neal Lee,
age 49, died on Friday, Sep
tember 2, 2022, at her resi
dence.
Ms. Lee was born in
Dublin and graduated from
Southwest High School in
Macon in 1991. She worked
as a paramedic for many
years with Toombs Mont
gomery EMS and most re
cently with Ware County
EMS. She was a member
of Calvary on Aimwell. She
was preceded in death by
her father, James R. O’Neal,
Sr.; her grandparents, Rob
ert and Mary Cochran
O’Neal and J.R. and Beulah
Craft Adams; and uncles,
Hubert F. O’Neal, John A.
Adams, and Danny H. Ad
ams.
Her family includes her
mother, Gail Adams O’Neal
of Lyons; 1 brother, James
R. O’Neal, Jr., of Macon;
2 aunts, Sandra Adams of
Lyons and Anella Adams
ofVidalia; her beloved chi
huahua, Squirrely; 2 cats,
Sheba and Snowball; and
numerous friends, cousins
and other relatives.
The funeral service will
be held on Wednesday, Sep
tember 7, 2022, at 11:00
a.m., in the chapel of Ron
ald V. Hall Funeral Home,
with Pastor Efton Green
officiating. Burial will fol
low at Lakeview Memorial
Gardens.

Mrs. Opal Snell
Mrs. Opal Pullen Snell,
age 86, of Adrian, died on
Saturday, September 3,
2002, at her home.
Mrs. Snell was bom in
the Covena Community of
Emanuel County and grew
up in Covena and Adrian,
attending school in Adri
an. She moved as her hus
band’s U.S. Air Force career
required and returned to
Adrian in the early 1970s.
She was a homemaker. She
was a member of Bethsaida
Baptist Church. She was
preceded in death by her
parents, Charlie J. and Thel
ma Agnes Stephens Der-
riso; her husband, Roy Lee
Pullen; 4 brothers, Moscow,
Edward, Odell and Rustin;
and 1 great-granddaughter,
Rosalie Odom.
Survivors include her
children, Ronnie Pullen,
Debra Webb, Suzanne Wa
ters and Timothy “Tim”
Pullen, all of Adrian; 1 sister,
Della Mae Reese, Swains-
boro; 10 grandchildren; 28
great-grandchildren; and
several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be
conducted on Wednesday,
September 7, 2022, at 11:00
a.m., in the Williams Chapel
of Sammons Funeral Home,
with Chaplain Andy Wil
liams officiating. Interment
will follow in the Poplar
Springs Methodist Church
Cemetery near Adrian.

Mr. Larry Geiger, Sr.
Mr. Larry A. Geiger,
Sr., age 76, of Lyons, died
on Tuesday, August 30,
2022, at his home after a
sudden illness.
Mr. Geiger was a na
tive of Brunswick, where
he grew up before moving
to Toombs County in the
late 1960s. He was a mill
wright/ welder with the Lo
cal #865 in Brunswick, and
later founded Geiger Insur
ance Company in Lyons in
1984. He was a member of
Lyons Masonic Lodge #49,
Quint Shrine Club in Ly
ons, Alee Shrine in Savan
nah, and the Vidalia-Lyons
Moose Lodge #1281. He
was Baptist by faith. He
was preceded in death by
his wife of 54 years, Kaye
Bennett Geiger; and his
parents, George Walter
Geiger and Addie Lee Lane
Geiger.
His family includes 3
children, Larry Geiger, Jr.,
of Lyons, Lisa Hower and
Dennis Dixon of Alley,
and Lynelle Geiger of Ly
ons; 9 grandchildren, Allan
Hower and wife Brittany
of Lyons, Justin Geiger of
Forsyth, Craig Wilson and

Mr. James Moxley
Mr. James Monroe
“Crow” Moxley, age 82, of
Soperton, died on Friday,
September 2, 2022, at his
residence.
Mr. Moxley was a life
long resident of Soperton
and was a 1958 graduate
of Treutlen County High
School. He earned an As
sociate of Arts degree in
Agri Business from ABAC.
He worked at Davis Tractor
in Vidalia and later opened
a grocery store in Tarry-
town. In the mid 1970s he
and his father .
opened the
Sears Roe
buck Store
in Soperton
until selling
in 1978. He worked for
the GA Forestry Commis
sion and is remembered
as being Smokey the Bear.
He served in the Army Na
tional Guard. In 1979 he
reenlisted on active duty,
assigned to Fort Stewart,
reporting to the armory
in Lyons as the NCOIC
Training Sergeant for
Company C 878 Engineers
(Combat Heavy) until re
tiring in 2000. He opened
Crow Mart in Soperton.
He served 2 separate terms
as a City Councilman for
the City of Soperton, was
a charter member of the
Soperton Jaycees, was a
former member of the Vi
dalia V.F.W. and a former
member of the Vidalia
Moose Lodge. He was pre
ceded in death by his par
ents, Barney James and Eu-
dora Phillips Moxley; and
his son-in-law, Ron Caputi.
Survivors include his
children, Grahl Moxley,
Vidalia, and Carla Caputi,
Forsyth; his former wife,
Glenda August, Vidalia; 1
granddaughter, Leslie Cul
pepper (Mathew), Lake
Park; and 2 great-grand
daughters, McKenzie and
Amelia.
Funeral services will
be conducted on Wednes
day, September 7, 2022,
at 2:00 p.m., in the Wil
liams Chapel of Sammons
Funeral Home, with Don
Paradise officiating. Inter
ment will follow in Boiling
Springs Missionary Baptist
Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Barbara Doyle
Berryhill died on August
25, 2022, at Victoria Gar
dens of Frisco, surrounded
by her family.
Mrs. Berryhill was
born in Staten Island, NY,
grew up in Wilmington,
NC, and moved to Saint
Petersburg, FL, where
she graduated from high
school and lived in Flori
da until 1964 when they
moved to Vidalia. She and
Dr. Berryhill retired to Tex
as in 2005. She spent many
years as a pastor’s wife
working in the church and
being a good steward. She
was preceded in death by
her husband, Dr. William
(Bill) Andrew Berryhill,
Sr.; her mom, Minnie Lee;
her dad, Raymond; her
father-in-law, (Bill); her
mother-in-law, (Cressie);
her son, Bill, Jr.; her grand
son, William Bradley; and
several dear friends.
She is survived by 3
children, Robin Berryhill
Jones, Lisa (Bill) Skiles,
Paul (Nancy) Berryhill,
and 1 daughter-in-law,
Diane Berryhill Stacks; 9
grandchildren, Melanie
Marten (Dusty), Lori Ber

Mr. Gary Stacy Col
lins, age 54, of Tarrytown,
died on Saturday, Septem
ber 3, 2022. at Meadows
Regional Medical Center
in Vidalia.
Mr. Collins was born
in Soperton and lived most
of his life in Tarrytown.
He was a 1986 graduate
of Treutlen County High
School. He attended East
Georgia College, where
he completed a 2-year de
gree in Digital Electronics.
He attended Southeastern
Technical College in Vida
lia and received his diploma
as an Emergency Medical
Technician and Paramedic.
He worked as a Paramedic
in Treutlen, Johnson and
Wheeler Counties while
continuing his pursuits in
the medical field, attending
Middle Georgia College,
where he became a Regis
tered Respiratory Thera
pist. He joined Emanuel
County Medical Center
in 2006, where he worked
in Respiratory Therapy as
well as working part-time
at Tattnall County Hospi
tal in Reidsville. He was a
member of the Zaidee Ad
vent Christian Church. He
was preceded in death by
his paternal grandparents,
Emitt and Juanita Collins;
his maternal grandparents,
John Mardy and Lizzie
Norris Foskey; aunts, Inell
Harris, Lois Brantley and
Leodias Evans; 1 niece,
Hannah Collins; and sev
eral other aunts and uncles.
Survivors include 1
son, Dustin Collins (Au
tumn), Santa Claus; his
parents, Gary and Cleo
Foskey Collins; 2 brothers,
Tony and Marty Collins;
grandchildren, Raelyn Col
lins, Zoey Johnson, Hailee
Newell, Payton Newell;
nieces and nephews, Man-
dy Williams (Justin), Sar
ah Collins, Jacob Collins,
Gabe Collins; and 1 great-
