October 28, at Forest City
Gun Club in Savannah.
RTCA had 10 shooters, in
grades 6-8, qualify to com
pete in the State Competi
tion this year.
Each shooter com
peted in three qualifying
tournaments in order to
compete at the
State level. The Middle
School team finished 11th
out of 23 teams, which in
cluded teams from AA,
AAA, and public schools.
Head Coach Allen
McDonald said, "I was
very pleased with their
performance. The Middle
School squad has im
proved tremendously this
year. I am very proud of
them and look forward to
seeing their progress next
year.”
BPC Volleyball Season Ends

over Stillman and then
fell to Middle Georgia in
the season finale,

(Ala.) for an SSAC con
test on Tuesday night in
Gillis Gymnasium. The
Lady Barons (2-22, 2-14
SSAC) secured a sweep
over the Tigers (1-16,
1-14 SSAC) for the sec
ond win of the season.
The Lady Barons
opened the match with a
25-15 win, starting the
set with a swift 8-1 lead.
Stillman jumped out to a
7- 1 lead early in set two
with Brewton-Parker re
claiming the scoreline at
8- 7. BPC finished out the
set in control, winning
25-16 for a 2-0 match ad
vantage.
In set three, Brewton-
Parker dominated the Ti
gers in a convincing 25-
10 win for the sweep.
Brewton-Parker led
the match with 26 kills
compared to Stillman’s
13. The Lady Barons pro
duced a .231 hitting per
centage for their best per
centage of the match
while in set two they
notched a match-high 11
kills. Kaitlin Reynolds led
with seven kills with Kin
sley Jordan producing six
aces. Katy Mathis notched
21 assists with Jordan re

Brewton-Parker
hosted Middle Georgia
on Saturday afternoon for
Senior Day in the season
finale. Taylor Scarbrough
was recognized prior to
the match as the lone se
nior for the season. The
Lady Barons (2-23, 2-16
SSAC) battled in a five-
set match but fell short to
the Knights (9-15, 5-13
SSAC).
The Lady Barons bat
tled back from an early
4-0 deficit from the
Knights, claiming the lead
and pulling away to a 25-
22 opening set win. Mid
dle Georgia responded
well with a strong 25-14
win in set two to level the
match.
Brewton-Parker
flipped the script with a
25-18 victory in set three
to extend the match to a
fourth set. The Lady Bar
ons scrapped their way
through the fourth set,
but the Knight eventually
snuck past BPC with a
25-21 win.
In the fifth and final
set, Middle Georgia
jumped out to a com
manding 9-0 lead before
securing the match in a
dominant 15-4 win.
Middle Georgia cap
tured a 53-36 advantage
in kills with a .175 hitting
percentage compared to
BPC’s .038 percentage.
Kaitlin Reynolds led BPC
with 15 kills followed by
Naomi Taake with eight.
R’Eyahn Shaffer recorded
five aces with Katy Mathis
notching 30 assists. Kins
ley Jordan produced 18
digs with Shaffer notch
ing 12.

course accomplishments,
Thomas was honored as
the Barons’ Champions
of Character representa
tive while Hackett and
Williams earned All-Aca
demic Team honors.

served on the Wheeler County Board of Education and as President of fhe Wheeler
County Chamber of Commerce.
David McNeal, 'Voice of Bulldogs/
Passes Away on October 31

David McNeal, 69, a
long-time voice for the
Wheeler County Bulldog
football team, passed away
on October 31 at Memo
rial Health Meadows Hos
pital in Vidalia after an ex
tended illness.
McNeal served on the
Wheeler County Board of
Education for 20 years and
as the announcer for
Wheeler’s home games for
at least that long.
During these years,
McNeal started Wheeler's
first football booster club,
organized and prepared
many cookouts for the
football teams, and won
more cakes raffled off on
Friday nights than almost
anyone due to all the
money he spent on tickets
in support of the team.
He was a member of
the Wheeler County
Chamber of Commerce
where he served as presi
dent from 2003-2004 and
a member of the Wheeler
County Lyons Club.
McNeal was a native of
Telfair County but grew up
in Montgomery County
and lived most of his life in
Wheeler County. After re
ceiving a Bachelor of Arts
degree from Tift College,
he worked as a Deputy
Warden of Security at
Dodge County Correc
tional Institute. There, he
received several awards
such as State Correctional
Departments Employee of
the Year.

tery Fund or the Alamo
United Methodist Church.
BPC Wrestling Opens Season

College wrestling teams
got their seasons under
way last week as the la
dies were at the Falcon
Invite at Friends Univer
sity in Kansas, while the
guys were in Kentucky at
Cumberlands for the Pa
triot Open.
Women
The No. 13-ranked
Brewton-Parker women’s
wrestling program com
peted at the Falcon Invite
hosted by Friends (Kan.)
in Park City, Kansas. The
Lady Barons opened the
season in Hartman Arena,
entering 19 wrestlers and
securing six placements.
For the 101 division,
Gabriela Galvez went 2-2
on the day and placed
fourth in her division,
followed by Dej-Ann An
gus finishing the day 1-2,
securing her first colle
giate win with a pin.
Alyssa Valdivia com
peted in the 109 division,
securing third place with
a 5-1 tournament record,
which included a pair of
tech falls and three pins.
Jamesa Robinson placed
second in the 116 divi
sion on a 4-1 record,
which included three
pins and a tech fall. Olivia
Chandler also competed
in the 116 division, fin
ishing the day with a 3-2
record.
Alesandra Burgos
wrestled in the 123 divi
sion, earning a 3-2 record
for the day. In the 130 di
vision, Madisyn Black
burn captured second
place with a 4-1 record
that included three pins
followed by Katelynn
Neal at 130, splitting the
day with a 2-2 record.
Jorie Richardson also
split the day with a 2-2
record but at the 136 di
vision. Migdalys Ramos
had herself a day with a
7-1 record, securing third
place in the 143 division.
At 155, Savannah Pitts
earned her first collegiate
win with a 1-2 record on
the day, while Taniyah
Ford also competed in
the division with a 2-2
record.
Katelyn Lewis picked
up a third-place finish at
the 170 division after fin
ishing the day with a 5-1
record that included four
pins and a tech fall. Elora
Waterman, Emma Smith,
Sydney Allman, Sierra
Harfelder, Skyy Har
grove, and Avry Warren
also competed for the
Lady Barons.
Men
Brewton-Parker
men’s wrestling opened
the season at the Patriot
Open hosted by Cumber-
lands (Ky.) in Williams
burg, Kentucky. The
(RV) Barons were repre
sented by 23 student-ath
letes with five individuals
earning placements.
Dennis McNeal high
lighted the day with a
first-place finish in the
125 open division. He
finished the day with a
4-0 record capped with
an 18-5 major decision in
the championship match.
In the 133 open division,
Keyshaun Taylor finished
the day with a 1-2 record.
Justin Grant split the day
with a 2-2 record in the
165 open while Joel Fa-
glier finished 1-2 in the
285 open division.
As for the freshman/
sophomore bracket of the
tournament, Nicholas
Williams notched a 2-2
record in the 125 divi
sion, followed by Dom-
nik Medina at 133 with a
3-2 record. Tyree Henry
picked up a win in the
133 division while Isaiah
Holland also picked up a
win in the division.
Trey Childress
snagged a win in the 149
division of the freshman/
sophomore bracket. Me-
khi Martin earned a fifth-
place finish with a 3-2 re
cord on the day in the
184 division. Dominic
Martinez also competed
at 184 alongside Martin,
splitting the day 2-2.
Charlie Henkel finished
the day with a 2-2 record
in the 184 division for
sixth place.
Thomas Crawford
picked up a win at 197
followed by Ethan Larsen,
who secured with divi
sion with a first-place fin
ish and a 4-0 record.
Blaine Miller also com
peted in the division, se
curing fifth and a 4-2 re
cord.
Bradley Owens, Gabe
Bandy, Booker Colson,
Darrell Shields, Tre
Stone, Ben Tarrago, Kul-
lum Irvin, and Bradley
Alexander all competed
but did not earn points
during the day.
