Mrs. Midge Galbreath
We are heartbroken to
announce the death of our
mother and grandmother,
Midge Galbreath. She sadly
passed away Sunday morn
ing, March 12, 2023, after a
very brief illness at the age
of 86. She was a wonder
ful mother who was always
there when we needed her
and a great friend to many
people. She was well loved
in her community.
Born Elvenoir Cooper
January 24, 1937, to par
ents Obed and Blanche Pe
terson Cooper in the small
community of Lothair,
Treulten County, Georgia.
She is preceded in death
by her parents and her
husband of 55 years, Hil-
burn Keith Galbreath, her
brother Ronald, and sister
Elizabeth.
She will be missed by
her daughters, Pamala Sue
(Albert), Sharon Leigh and
Brenda Ann; grandchil
dren, Mallory Elise, Eli
jah Keith, Meredith Ruth
(Kilah), Jacob Alan (Kaila)
and as always her “baby of
the family” Christian Bran-
dan; her brothers, Lay-
mond Laramie and Elton
Jerome (Pete).
What started out as
co-workers, the Sea Island
gals quickly turned into life
long friends as well as her
Sisters in Christ from First
Baptist Church on St. Si
mons whom she cherished.
She leaves two other very
special people behind that
she considered her daugh
ters, Nancy Jo and Sherry
Marie.
After graduating from
Vidalia High School in
1954 Mom was a great wife
and homemaker. She re
tired from the Cloister Re
sort, Sea Island, Georgia,
with 40 years of service.
She had several great loves:
She was obsessed with
food ... (cooking, eating,
feeding people) and raking
leaves. She mastered both.
We honored her Sat
urday morning, March 18,
11:00, at the First Baptist
Church on St. Simons Is
land. We gathered together
in the social hall afterwards
for hugs and then laid her
ashes to rest beside our
father at 5:00 in the af
ternoon at the Galbreath
Cemetery, Ailey, Georgia.
Proverbs 22:6
“Train up a child in the
way he should go and when
he is old he will not depart
from it.” Mom “trained us
up” and now that we are
old we hope we stay the
course
We Love you, Momma
Rest easy.

The last may be most
useful to DeSantis once he
