think that he could develop
into a big-time player.
Coach Ingle said that
they are looking at the line
backers to be big this year
for them. Woodard, Ad
ams, and Ricks are going to
be starting in the middle of
the linebacking crew with
Marks also seeing time in
side. Ian Scott will be on
the outside and play some
at free safety. They will
also see Lane Connell, and
Drew Dixon will also see
time at linebacker.
In the secondary
Kincey will start at one
corner with Scott and
Wooten rotating at the
other corner. Brandon Wil
cox will also see time in the
secondary with Mincey
and Landon Wilson get
ting play time as well. All
have good speed and can
cover well. The Bulldogs
will have a lot of speed on
defense, and they hope to
use that to lock down the
opposing team’s passing
game.
Over on special teams
Josh Warez will be the
kicker and has a good leg
and is working on being a
weapon on field goals.
Rodgers will be the punter
and can consistently kick
over 40 yards. Rhett Mc-
Craney will handle the
snapping for field goals,
and Walker Bridges will be
long snapper on punts.
Coach Ingle thinks
that the special teams will
be a weapon for the Bull
dogs this season and that
they will make a real im
pact for the team.
Coach Ingle stated, “I
just have to say that the
work ethic of these kids
has just been awesome. I
can say I got spoiled at Vi-
dalia. The way those kids
worked just impresses. But
coming in here, trying to
do some things at a smaller
school, man these kids
have just had open arms to
all we have asked them to
do. I just think their work
ethic and willingness to
learn has been off the
charts. We have some tal
ent, but we need to stay
healthy. But I really like our
chances this year. Just need
to keep working hard and
things could go our way.”
Wheeler is in a tough
region with Wilcox win
ning the State Champion
ship last season. They will
return a good group and
will be tough again this
season. Dooly County has
improved as have Telfair.
Treutlen is young but is a
rivalry. Montgomery
County is always a big ri
valry but now is outside of
region play.
Wheeler County will
open their season on Fri
day, August 18 in Milled-
geville against Georgia
Military College. They will
take on Toombs County in
the second week of the sea
son at home.
